No patch planned for SFII beta

Might as well stop whinging then.

Downloaded the Super Street Fighter II Turbo High Definition Remix beta? Having problems with freezes, like so many of those posting on the Capcom forum?

Well, tough luck. Capcom says it won't be issuing a patch for the beta - perhaps because it's, you know, a beta.

Responding to the forum complaints, marketing man Christian Svensson wrote, "We wil not be patching the beta. Resubmissions would cost a fortune and not go live for weeks."

Turns out Microsoft would have to approve every new submission, you see: "This isn't like the PC where a developer can make changes daily (for good or ill)."

Svensson concluded by assuring posters, "All feedback and bugs will be factored into the final code."

As reported yesterday, the SSFIITHDR beta is now available for download via Xbox Live. You must have purchased Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 to gain access.

Good thing I didn't buy that XBLA game. I'd have bought it basically to play this beta. And if the beta is having major problems, I want no part in it.

It does have major problems, I've never been able to play online because the console freezes everytime I try. What can they learn from a beta plenty of people can't even access?

Odd, was working fine for me yesterday evening...

They don't need to learn anything. The beta was a smart way of making money. People who were eager enough to play the beta and pay the 800 MS points for the privilege make any learning unnecessary.

+1 I was gonna get it as well, thanks for the heads up EG I'll wait for the finished game now!

I have to agree. I bought the game because I loved the demo but paying just for the beta is just nonsense (it was for Halo 3 too).

Well nonsense for you, but to people who want to try those games out early and don't mind getting another game to do so it's not......

I had no problem setting up a game and inviting someone off my friends list, but if you search for a random match it freezes your 360.

I haven't even got it and my Xbox freezes sometimes - how contagious is that!?

    turn off CAPS-LOCK please.

Commando 3 had easily been worth it even without the beta.

What's that I hear... oh its the Waaaaaaaaaaaambulance. How's this for novel thinking - I saved those 800 points and they will be put towards the finished article which will most likely be flawless. Capcom just took your 800 points n started laughing.

Isn't complaining about a buggy Beta a little bit like taking your local Curry house to court because the Vindaloo stung your ass on it's way out?

The Beta is great - and works both on and offline for ryu/ken matches of any combination.

It does freeze, and I couldn't get an online game going last night, but I had the same issues on the first night of GTA IV.

These are big, high-profile games - I'm not chuffed, but I accept that the servers would be just a bit busy on launch night.

Commando 3 is also excellent, and I was curious regardless of the beta about this XBLA title, as I loved Commando on the CPC back as a youth.

I'll check it out again tonight...

I 99% agree with your post, ALLCAPS ruined it slightly.

Working great! Froze once, but I've played 10 matches since.

    Good stuff...

Judging by some of the comments here - how much are you fools paying for 800 points?

    I guess you're not getting 2100 for £14 then?

Commando's a good laugh, well worth the 800 points (but not in the league of Crackdown). I admit I pretty much bought Command:WoTB for the beta tho. Which incidentally has not frozen on me once.

I've played it ranked, unranked, custom matches online & offline without a hitch. I'd be interested to find out what's causing the freezes tho. I can't say I've had a problem, nor have any of my mates who bought it after playing it at mine. Is it really that widespread a problem?
