No More Heroes series finished with Wii

Future games "need a new platform".

Goichi Suda reckons No More Heroes has the potential to become a "big franchise", but he believes he's taken the series as far as he can on Nintendo Wii.

"I really want to make NMH a big franchise, and with this second episode have bigger success. I'm putting a lot of care into developing this IP, as I feel there's a lot of potential," Suda told Edge in its latest issue (thanks MTV).

"I think this is the last NMH that is going to be developed on Wii. To expand NMH to new possibilities, we need a new platform. Wii is a great platform, but we've done everything we can with it now."

Desperate Struggle is due out later this year, and was unveiled around the time of the Tokyo Game Show last year, when we spoke to Suda about its development.

Have I slipped back in time by two weeks?

I think that's fair. I can't see them really taking the series anywhere new on Wii, other than refining stuff for this second one. The IP does desrve to be seen by plenty of people, I'd quite like to see it on another system too. It's not like having the next one on another console would delete the first 2 from existence :)

The more NMH the better I say.

I was thinking the same thing - and since when did EG need MTV to let them know about the content of a magazine interview that can be picked up in Smiths?

Cool, do a PS3 or 360 one, I'll buy it.

And as much as I love NMH, the low resolution and blur filter gave me headaches - it always felt like someone had smeared vaseline over my tv

natal version for 360 plz :)

This just goes to show that having X game on Wii doesn't automatically mean it's going to sell by the bucketload.

Yeah, sounds like Natal or the PS3 motion controllers mean Suda can move onto the hi-def systems while still doing motion controls.

My money's on Natal... at least I hope it is. Be really cool.

No More Heroes didn't really use that much motion control though. I'd be happy enough seeing it played with a controller, although I loved the parts where you got a phone call and found yourself holding the Wii Remote to your ear, just like Travis was doing.

He's right though, there's too much fun to be had with Travis and Co to let this disappear as one of those lost treasures.

This game will bomb regardless of platform.

I don't think we can unanimously claim it bombed, sure it didn't sell millions to the point that it's staying Wii exclusive, but it sold enough to warrant a sequel.

Loved the concept. Loved the main character. Loved the vibe. The combat system isn't exactly God of War but has more depth than is apparent at first. The rest of the game grates a bit but it's still a matter of debate as to whether that's deliberate.

While it's a shame that it's leaving the Wii, the developers have had two good goes at it, and if it doesn't sell this time around then there's just no market for it on that console. But to me it's the kind of cult game that might do well on the other consoles, who will have motion controls by that time. I'll be shrugging my shoulders and saying fair do's, thanks for two good games, can we still be friends?

the first sold well enough for them to throw a party, and was suda's best selling game by a lot. the second will probably do fine as well, and the more people who get to play the games the better

"The IP does desrve to be seen by plenty of people"

But isn't the Wii the most popular of this gen?
  • Razorus #15 3 years ago

Aww man. Don't switch it to another console please! It'll just make the Wii versions seem utter shite.
