No More Heroes pushed back a bit

Hold on a little longer.

Rising Star has shifted the release of No More Heroes back two weeks to 14th March.

Not terribly interesting, really, but we thought you had better know.

No More Heroes is a cel-shaded and stylised Wii outing where you play as a chap called Travis Touchdown and just happen to be an assassin with a fancy beam katana - or lightsaber-alike, if you like.

This third-person action affair has you dispatching fellow killers like yourself by shaking your arms around and following the instructions on screen. But each targeted assassin will have a few tricks of their own up their sleeves: one was a magician and flipped the world upside down.

Not the sort of title you might expect on the Wii, which is probably why everyone has been so thoroughly impressed with it, us included.

Head over to our No More Heroes review to find out more.

Two weeks actually. To be precise they pushed it back a week twice during the last month.
  • NOSAVIOUR #2 4 years ago

another copy and paste job from cvg for eurogamer news then as they got it wrong first...
  • aldo_14 #3 4 years ago

Are they adding in blood now?!!!!

    (no, of course not. *sigh*)
  • Pac #4 4 years ago

    Bollocks.

Still another couple of weeks to finish Zak and Wiki before I trade it in 4 this.
  • Artemus #5 4 years ago

One week? I thought it was coming out next Friday.

I read on another website that the European version doesn't have blood and the enemies die in a shower of pixels instead so the cleaners who amusingly appear after you kill someone appear to be cleaning up nothing! How crap is that? The developers clearly have a terrific sense of humour but needless censoring has spoilt the game slightly. :(
  • smoison #7 4 years ago

Ya seeing the comparison videos really shows how bad the censored vesion is compared to the original. You can telle the game was always supposed to be bloody.

    No blood = no buy.

    Thanks for trying.

Astounding stuff, NOE are fucking useless.
  • Der_tolle_Emil #9 4 years ago

Also NOE has nothing to do with the delay since they aren't the publisher. (And I doubt that the pushed the publisher to a delay)
  • Artemus #10 4 years ago

Good comparison that shows you just how censored the EU version is.
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #11 4 years ago

Yes it has been pushed back two weeks. I've put my error in bold in the story to humiliate myself.

  • Der_tolle_Emil #12 4 years ago

Good job. Have a nice weekend, I'm going home.

By the way, the headline is still wrong :p

Edit: At least when looking at the article. And I'm really not complaining should I sound like that. If I am, sorry :)

It's changed on the front page but not on the article page. At least there is still evidence of my hiccup. I'm mostly human too, you know. Except for this bit of me /shows
  • RexRunti #14 4 years ago

Bizarrely the Japanese version was self-censored as well.
  • evilashchris #15 4 years ago

Fucks sake, those vids really show how it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be a hyper-real anime blood fest.

They really have shot themselves in the foot here, no way i'm buying the pixel version, it looks so very wrong.

  • Darren #16 4 years ago

I don't think I'll bother buying the game seeing as it's spoilt by censoring.
  • gingerlink #17 4 years ago

    @tachikoma
might be a good plan for the sake of brawl as well, because still no news from that for the EU...
  • tapper #18 4 years ago

What's up with the RSS feed?

"No More Heroes pushed back a bit"
"No More Heroes pulled back a week"

It's been like this for a while, with double headlines for some articles...
  • Nithron #19 4 years ago

Release it on another console damnit, I don't wanna buy a Wii for one game

Also that censorship is weird, in some interviews Suda51 reckons that the bloodless version is the original, and in some he says it's not. No idea that's up with that.

Thanks for the link. I knew that the EU version is missing the blood...but I didn't know it was THAT BAD. The uncensored version looks like a pretty cool mix between Killer 7 and Kill Bill. Guess I'll wait till they find a way to circumvent the Wii's regioncodes so I can import the US version.

    *sigh*

Yeah.. this game looks SHIT because it doesnt have a few red pixels on it.

    *sigh*

I remember when people used to play games for fun... Moaning about lack of red pixels is quite frankly the saddist thing i've ever heard.
  • Skeletor #22 4 years ago

    @smelly
Have you even bothered to check the youtube comparison? Compared to the uncut US version the scene in the EU/JP one is simply boring. I would say, the over the top blood splatter adds a lot of style to the game. Trying to justify your preorder?

    Yes.. I have watched comparison.

Are you REALLY telling me that a graphical effect turns something into being boring? Geesus, if that's all that makes this game boring then it cant be a very good game can it?

Style is just that.. style. Who gives a flying shit? If it plays well and no-one told you about the differences then would you care? No.

I think it's a bit sad that gamers get upset by stuff like this. It doesnt effect how the game plays just how it looks.

But then i guess this proves my theory that gamers dont actually play games any more. They're more interested in watching a shitty story, or jerking off over nice graphics, or arguing which machine is bestest than they are actually having fun playing the games.

    Bit sad imho.
  • smelly #24 4 years ago

(goes off to make the worlds most boring game.. with lots of red pixels for gamers to wank over.. IM GONNA MAKE A FORTUNE!)
  • AtomicBanana #25 4 years ago

So style and aesthetics have nothing to do with how you feel when you a play a game? Must be hard being that dead inside :p Lets may every single game with grey-ish blobs to represent everything, it'll still *play* the same right?
  • Grogmonkey #26 4 years ago

Graphics are important to a degree, but no one graphical effect is more important than any other. To use a similar example, Carmageddon was not any more boring or any less fun when it was released with green blood than when it was patched to include red.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the US version is completely ludicrous with the amount of blood on show (going by that comparison video). It's more a commentary on the US audience and its love of stupid amount of blood than anything else. I mean, did anyone actually stop to consider the fact the guy uses a laser sword? What are lasers but concentrated beams of light? What does a concentrated beam of light have? Lots of energy. And, therefore, a lot of heat. Heat cauterises wounds. Cauterisation stops blood flow. So there should be less blood in the game. Which really puts a stop to the 'it's supposed to be hyper-real' comments. Unless hyper-real actually means not real at all.

Seriously, not buying a great game because it doesn't shower you with little red pixels is dumb. Any way you slice it.

Especially as low sales would not make publishers think 'Oh, we should have put more blood in this game', but rather 'Let's not realease any more games in Europe'. We're only just getting this great Japanese titles regularly. Seems a bit stupid to discourage it now.
  • smelly #27 4 years ago

I bet you guys are the same type of people who refuse to play games like mario galaxy because they are "too kiddy"

    Your loss i guess.
  • aine #28 4 years ago

I sure hope this censored version sells zero units.

yeah because that's what the gaming industry really needs. one of the few companies still bringing weird and unique stuff to europe going tits up after one of its biggest games, and one of the few third party Wii titles to do anything remotely interesting, sells zero units. but nevermind eh, i'm sure some creatively bankrupt multinational will fill the shelf space they leave behind (on the bottom of the wii rack in GAME, no doubt) with a lazy port of a cartoon license with "motion controls" bolted on. i hope you like shaking the wiimote.

One day i might understand gamer logic...

Maybe the gov is right when they say games make kids dumb? Or maybe it's just kids on internet forums?
  • Nikanoru #30 4 years ago

Man smelly, now you're really grasping at straws. Just fucking look at the video. They might as well have removed the cutscenes altogether, I guess you would still be happy then? I haven't seen censorship this retarded since 1995.

I want to buy and support the game, but I don't want to support this kind of shit, and the possibility of a re-release with the actual game content intact lingers in the back of my mind. For now I think I'll spend my money on Z&W and Endless Ocean instead.

Release it on another console damnit, I don't wanna buy a Wii for one game

If this is really the only game you want to buy a Wii for then I just feel sorry for you. Poor little guy.
  • djed #31 4 years ago

hyper real does in fact mean more real than reality, i.e. unreal. check out this article (filmsound.org) for a nice explanation of hyper real sound in movies.

the bloodless version could've been cooler, more 'stylized', but in that comparison video it just looks castrated :(

Meh. Looks like Persona 3 will have to do for next week. I was getting excited about two good games in one week.
  • Lemming81 #34 4 years ago

    Just been reading the comments...

Smelly you really are a fucking tool. It's like having the Mona Lisa and putting a bit 'CENSORED' bar over her cleavage.

Not that I'm comparing NMH to the Mona Lisa, but my point is it's not about the censorship, it's about what was intended and how it is FUCKING DISTRACTING and makes it WORSE.

The blood was clearly about the hyper-anime stylings of the game and added something to it. A BIG something. It's what makes it self-aware and amusing (ie. more blood flying about than is actually humanly possible).

Without it, it just seems like it's had it's balls chopped off.

But you wouldn't get that..you just see "lolz lightsaber!1"
