No More Heroes heading to PS3 and 360
Touches down this February in Japan.
Japanese magazine Famitsu has revealed that Wii game No More Heroes is heading PS3 and Xbox 360 in Japan in February.
Subtitled Heroes Paradise, the game adds Japanese voice acting and a mode where female characters wear little. Presumably there will also be adjustments made for higher resolutions. There are a few scans on Kotaku.
No More Heroes, released in January 2008, tells the tale of assassin Travis Touchdown who must hunt down and kill all other assassins with his magnificent laser sword, which is a cross between a Lightsaber and a strip-light.
Whether the Wii controls can translate to pad we'll have to wait and see. Still, it's encouraging to see Suda work on the platform ahead of the PS3 wand's and Project Natal's arrival next year.
As a Wii game No More Heroes stood out; it was a rare attraction for core gamers and, thanks to stylish design, quickly gathered a cult following. Catch-up with our review for a full analysis.
A sequel, No More Heroes: Desparate Struggle, will be released in January across Japan.
There's more on both Wii games below.

More importantly though, this was actually a good game that was released on the Wii. Getting it out to other platforms is a great move as many people probably didn't bother with it there. Mapping the controls shouldn't be all that hard. Shaking the controller to charge your sabre can be mapped to a button, as shaking isn't much fun. The special moves can go straight to the control sticks. Stance was controlled by tilting, but there was only really high and low stances anyway so that can go to a button. Only really leaves the weight lifting and squats at the gym, but those weren't really that much fun. Should work out pretty well in all.

Hey there was only 1 boss with a one hit kill!

Anyway, there wasn't anything like that for the genre on the Wii when it came out. I wonder if it can do well on 360/PS3, where it will have to compete with some better games. Also, bad graphics, HD fetishists won't like that. The motion controls shouldn't be a problem though, they weren't that good in the Wii version to begin with.
@Vertical Stand: if i remember correctly, there were news of the second game getting CC support. I think that means they want to do a port of that one too. Of course, I guess it will also depends on the sales of the first one.

No way was this an 'in-joke'. It was a celebration of so much that came before it. From the retro design elements to the sandbox environment, I thought it was a marvellous reflection.
I agree, mowing the lawn wasn't the most exciting bit of gaming I've played. But I only had to do it once - I did it a second time because I enjoyed it - and the game was designed so that you only needed to repeat the side quests just enough times before it encroached on boredom.
Personally, I felt that there was such a volume of audio and visual flair that the game won itself enough credit to be used on one or two stodgey mechanics, that the net effect was still overwhelmingly positive.

There were two difficulty levels in the beginning, one was pretty easy for any typical gamer, the other was not (and then you could unlock an even harder one if I recall). As for lacking any substance, you could argue that the entire game was designed to be over the top and the plot basically mocked a whole series of video game tropes.
Personally speaking, I loved this guy after playing Killer7 and everything of his I've played since has always been interesting. I won't say they are the most well designed or accessible games, but they are all at least unique.

Then again, I'm not a fan of sandbox games (GTA for example).

Bad Girl?
You examine her carefully. If she is crying with one hand on the baseball bat, don't touch her, it's a ruse. If she covers her face with both hands, attack!
Avoid ground-stomp hits by dodging using the d pad. For the vertical bat twirl followed by hard hit, don't block, move to your right and counter.
Anyway, this enemy has specific counters and strategies for every move that work well, making her both very challenging but very satisfying once you crack them. I admit, first time it took me a half hour...

I play it almost every day
Well this game is seriously Marmite, but I'm in the Love It camp, I just keep playing it over and over. I really hope they patch it for Wand when that comes out. In the Wii early days I was hoping there'd be lots of this sort of game, but I've kind of given up - too many games featuring characters that look like they belong in kid's cartoons, and not enough ZombieMonsterNazi stomping (sorry Miss Gibson!) - and have bought a PS3 in anticipation of the Wand.

Ditto. Sold it back two days later for about 1/3 what I'd paid.
Plenty of style, very little substance IMO. (The "-" button is in the upper right corner, enjoy.)
