No downlodable demo for Far Cry 2 News

The producer of Far Cry 2 has said there will be no opportunity to try the game before you buy.

"No demos will be available," Louis-Pierre Pharand said in our LiveText chat.

"It became too complex to do a demo of an openworld game. We decided to put those efforts into the game so everyone can enjoy a better, more polished experience."

And enjoy it you will, said a confident Pharand, whether you're buying the Xbox 360, PS3 or PC version. "I'm not too shy to say that no one else can deliver what we will in a few weeks on PC and consoles: 50 square kilometres of openworld, no loading and sick graphics," he said.

Pharand also confirmed you will get to run over the animals in Far Cry 2, though you will not be able to break a lion's legs off.

I'm really looking forward to this but what with everything else coming out, i'll pick it up on the cheap after Christmas as that seems to be the norm with Ubisoft games anyway.

If Far Cry 2's graphics are sick then I hope the developers cure them before the game's release! I refuse to go near sick graphics in case I catch something nasty! :O

@ Darren - yes, some of this guy's language is a bit wanky... I tried to find his age on Google, to no avail. He has also said "There are no fucking mutants in this game", so obviously he's hip and the game will be cool as a result.

It's because you have malaria! The whole engine is designed to simulate the effects of real-time malaria suffering, including Parasitime, where the world slows down and enable you to move at an accelerated speed.
Also fever, shivering, arthralgia (joint pain), vomiting, anemia (caused by hemolysis), hemoglobinuria, and convulsions.

Bland? It gives you a vast area of African landscape to explore in any way you see fit. That alone makes this appealing to me, but the story looks good as well as a lot of the gameplay decisions and attention to detail they've got going on.

But you're right, I haven't got a clue, 25 years of gaming, whoop, hit the reset button.

Crackdown fucking did it, GTA doesn't open up big parts of it's world until you compete some other shit. I'm not buying a FPS without sampling the controls. Put a fucking fence around an area for godsake if you have to. It's a demo, who the hell asked for the whole experience.

Framerate won't be bad if you have a PC :-)

Of course, the game will suck purely BECAUSE they have to cater for POS console controls.

I'm tired of consoles ruining FPS's :-P

Awwww I wanted a downlodable demo. Then again it's understandable as this is an open world game a demo is just not possible, this is why there's no demo for Mercenaries 2; oh wait a sec. Hmm this isn't going to be one of those games that released before the magazines' reviews appear is it; the ones that read 'Great graphics shame about the camera, the controls, the AI, the multi-player, the...'?
