No Assassin's Creed II demo

Sequel's launch just weeks away.

Update: Ubisoft has confirmed to Eurogamer that there are "no plans" for an Assassin's Creed II demo.

Original story: Ubisoft has explained that there will be no demo offered for Assassin's Creed II.

That's according to Connected Consoles (via VG247), which heard the news from a Ubisoft representative at the Eurogamer Expo 2009. We're double-checking with the publisher this morning.

Those that attended the show, then, will have had a rare taster of the upcoming renaissance murder mystery.

Assassin's Creed II launches for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 20th November. The PC version will follow early next year.

I wonder if that is because it is a yawnathon like the first one. There will probaby be 2000 pointless flags to collect this time.

Seeing it at the expo I can see why...

I know it's ages away but I'm waiting to see how the PC version shapes up, shame really as I was busting for it! Why is the PC version being released so long after anyway?

    looked average at the expo.

    no demo? No pre-order. Simplez.

It had a few performance issues at the Expo, but that was down to old code apparently. You'd like to think that's been cleared up somewhat, especially just a few weeks before release. They should have just bought newer code with them instead of taking the lazy route.

They were also the biggest bunch of Photo Nazi's at the show (at Leeds), as soon as they saw a camera it's "can't take photos of screens", as if you can play and take photos at same time.

Definitely would like to play it before release.

I really wanted to get a good look at this on Saturday but it was always so packed. From what I saw over people's shoulders it looked a bit slow and clunky.
Was really looking forward to this but not so sure anymore. As themorganator said; No demo? No pre-order.

Not interested in this game at all.

Which is strange, cos I'm normally drawn to all major releases (like the sheep that I am), but this game (like the first) does absolutely nothing for me....

Always suspious of big titles that have no demos. A bit like studios not having a press screening before a general release. Are they looking to get big sales in the first week before the likes of Eurogamer get hold of it and review it?

So you're all insecure about MW 2 too, as it won't get a demo either?

Not surprised. From what I saw at the Expo, it was more like Assassin's Creed 1.2. The models, animations and gameplay looked virtually identical to the original. I'm not expecting it to get a good reception.

So basically everyone that saw it at the expo was turned off by it? Can someone elaborate a bit, because this is not looking good. "old code" is a crap excuse anyway....oops, somehow the old code has made it way onto the retail master copy, oh well, fuck gamers anyway
