Reggie's such a tease.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has promised big things from the company at this year's E3 whilst declining to offer any proper information at all.

His comments came in an interview with GameTrailers TV. According to Fils-Aime, Nintendo has something tip top lined-up for Christmas '08: "There's gonna be a big game for the holiday that gamers will want," he stated.

"All I can tell you is what we announce during E3 is gonna be fantastic. The gamer is gonna be excited and the expanded audience is gonna be excited."

So what's so exciting, exactly? Fils-Aime wouldn't say, but at another point in the interview he did confirm that the titles Nintendo releases after E3 will be "maximising all of our key franchises". DKC please, you can keep stupid old Banjo.

I think Zelda is unlikely because they seem to like announcing those well in advance (twilight Princess was 2 and a half years between announcement and release.

Animal Crossing would seem most likely, especially with the expanded audience comment.

And the only reason this comment's being made is they've now ran out of big upcoming games (after Brawl, Mario Kart and Wii Fit). There's plenty to keep me going until then, my 360 will be going out of service for a while, assuming it doesn't break first.

Wii doing great, but my anticipation for must have games on Wii is not as high as it is for games coming on X360 and PS3.

I m only looking forward to on Wii games like Smash Bro,... and errrr ...nope already out ...no got that... well, how about and Wii Fit?!!

Why keep it mysterious they ARE in dire straits for AAA games that appeal to traditional gamers SO should just come clean now and give a lift to Wii owners. We know what titles we are looking forward to this Xmas on X360 and PS3 but on Wii?

Here's hoping for the ultimate Starfox game. ie. a proper advancement of the original SNES game. Not some gimicky shit about dinosaurs or naff tank levels.

Starfox should have always been Star Wars with animals, tbh.

Lylat Wars was more of the same. It wasn't an expansion of the formula. At least, not enough in my eyes to warrant splooging over it.

And the tank SUCKED.

if they make it X-wing VS. Tie Fighter with less complexity (This is for a Nintendo machine after all and XvT used most of the buttons on a keyboard), I'll be made up.

Hell, I'd even take Rogue Squadron in a Starfox skin at this point.

I'd guess Animal Crossing Wii as it ticks most boxes and was a romping success on the DS. I'm not that interested having played the DS version to death, but it might turn out good. I would however get positively moist for Pilotwings or Pikmin. Also F-Zero is a big possibility though to be fair that's not really mass appeal.

As regards the dipshit that said one game a year, as a euro gamer I'm looking forward to Brawl and Mariokart, I already have Zelda, Excitetruck, Wii Sports and Galaxy. Will get Metroid and Paper Mario when i get time. If they keep releasing quality titles at this rate I'd be fairly happy to be honest. Looking forward to this gen iterations of Starfox, Mario Golf but most of all Pikmin. If you can find Pikmin 2 for the cube go get it, it's a little slice of gaming gold.

As a rank outside bet what about some dopey rhythm action game a la Donkey Konga or the dancing mat shite?

My money is on Animal Crossing. There are other classic franchises but they aren't big enough. I love Pikmin but not enough people played it to make such a bold statement this early.

Erm.. no.. nintendo have lots of huge games.. As previously pointed out

Starfox
Pilotwings
Wave Race
F-Zero
Donkey kong
Yoshi's Island
Kid Ikarus
Mario
Zelda
Pikmin
Metroid
Animal Crossing

Oh, and lets not forget new IP such as "day of crisis" the game they announced before the wii launched which we havent seen since..

The seem to try to release at least 1 new ip each gen (pikmin, animal crossing, etc last gen).

EDIT: oooh, just had a thought.. if it's going to please hardcore and casual... It COULD be a proper 3d update of pokemon (done properly like zelda). IF they did a proper 3d pokemon, i'd be first in the queue to get it.
