I'm not dissing/cussing/bashing or anything but I'm genuinely very shocked to see that in the North American market, the 360 still outsold the PS3 even though the PS3's biggest and most hyped title to date yet was released. Even in Japan, the 360 has become the number one seller for a month when big releases have come out.

The PS3 is down on the prior year sales for the last 4 months, Sony have to cut the price!!!

Haha, I don't think so. The PS3 is falling off the chart in the states, it's sales are declining steadily whilst all it's competitors are improving year-on-year.

Sony are going to have to make a decision soon. They can't afford to reduce the price as they will lose so much money on sales that it will bankrupt them. Software sales are terrible on the platform so won't make up for the deficit.

Maybe they will do a Nintendo and raise the price? Whichever way you cut it the outlook is exceptionally bleak for the poor console.

Proof that if you treat your fanbase like shit they will turn on you. Learn a lesson Sony, don't make the PS4 as shit as the PS3 and don't kick every single on of your supporters in the balls and expect them to support you afterwards.

... Except Farty, you overlook the slight issue with your logic again: the PS3 isn't 'shit'. Lots of people, myself included, love their PS3. You're stating your opinion as fact again, when it really doesn't tally up with many people's experience of the machine. It's not perfect, but it's damn good for lots of things (including games) and provides great entertainment in many ways for everyone in my house. The 360 entertains just me. That's okay, but in terms of value, the PS3 is better overall in my experience. Saying it's shit is just trying to start arguments again. Please stop it.

Yes the PS3 is being hammered... but I guess Sony doesn't want to lose money so this gen they will end last but not in the red. The aim was to sell Bluray anyway. They have a lot of work on the PS4.

It's not exactly the same situation though. The Dreamcast was crushed by a stronger platform in the same way the 360 is crushing the PS3, however although it failed to sell, the Dreamcast had great software.

Sony deserves a big humble pie and this will also do Sony supporters good in the long run by having Sony working more harder to do better, MS also will want to get rid of the reliability issues but they won big praises from gamers for coming up with a product that at present day is still respectable position.

However neither Sony or MS can claim that they are happy with things as they are now, as both need or want to see a much bigger share as enjoyed by Nintendo.

I do feel the winners are us all gamers, as with more closer competition, the harder competitors will work to produce a winning games.

Multiplatform titles may be better on the 360, but only marginally. The differences are barely noticable. If you're talking about exclusive titles, then judging by many of your previous posts, you seem very biased. Personally, I've only been disappointed with Resistance. Exclusives aside, titles are good across both platforms so I don't agree with PS3 having poor software.

There are many factors involved and I don't think you can say the PS3 is a shit console because the majority of people like one over the other. An example of one of those factors? Price. The price doesn't bother me too much but it's obvious a lot of people here are perplexed by the price.

I didnt like Resistance 2 either.. I thought it was quite poor, but been very happy with Flower, KZ2, LBP and Wipeout so far :)

Umm, you are aware that all hardware will fail at SOME point in time, right? And that faulty hardware is hardly limited to the 360, look at the PS2 and PS3 having various issues (PS3 not on the same scale granted), the PSP and DS coming with faulty screens etc etc.

Personally, I'd say MS have done exceptionaly well this gen, delivering a system that hits the sweet spot between performance and cost as well as delivering a great set of functionality for gamers and an expansive range of software. Nintendo, obviously, have a winning formula and that's likely to continue for quite some time yet. And Sony are doing okay but are desperately in need of a price drop. Oh, and while Killzone 2 may have only been out for 2 days that still accounts for all of the preorders and the initial hype purchases so I wouldn't expect to see a huge improvement in the next month.

The reason I chose a PS3 over the 360 was because most of my friends and work colleagues who had an xbox had to send theirs back. Many on more than one occasion. Now, whilst I agree that MS have possibly improved their rate of failure, it's still not acceptable to have so many fail so early; even with warranty. All hardware fails, but within a decent timeframe.

There's a world of difference in both quantity and quality. Any PS3 titles that are passable (and there are precious few) have much better counterparts on the 360.

Frankly the Wii has a far more compelling software catalog than the PS3 and we all know how dire that is!
