Nintendo E3 conference! Finished

This afternoon at 17:00 BST (09:00 PST) Nintendo will take to the stage at the Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica to deliver its E3 conference, and Tom will be in the audience providing you with full Live Text commentary of the whole event. And hopefully not talking about how uncomfortable his bottom is on the thinly cushioned seat this time.

We're not sure what the contents of the address will be, but we're confident it will be as bizarre as ever. Join us as we find out live from the US.

exactly. Gaming on a PC is like going to the beach wearing a suit.

    /round of applause

    Well said!

    @Aspic

If you're not playing a console you're not playing games like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Okami, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, etc etc.

    Your loss.
  • AOFanboi 7 years ago

If you're playing on a console you're not a hardcore gamer.

    Ooh, maturity level sinking. Okay.

PC gaming = Solitaire and Yahoo! Games. For grannies. Plus The Sims.

    See what I did there?
  • Spong 7 years ago

    @Aspic

"There are all sorts of reasons why they might make a game that isn't supposed to be an alternative. Gameplay for one but using a familar setting - the tennis game for example is just pong + a couple of decades. Do you think FPS where you go round massacreing (sp?) scores of people is supposed to be an alternative to the real thing?"

FPSs (along with 90% of other games) are all a form of escapism) - allowing the player to do what he/she cannot do in every day life. Things like massacring. That example has no relevance in the discussion we were having.

And on a side-note, what's all this shit you keep spouting about consoles not being for hardcore gamers? Are you trying to say that PCs and Macs are the choice of the hardcore gamer?

What a load of fucking shit. A hardcore gamer wants problem free games games games. You don't get that with PCs and Macs. You've got to install updates, drivers, buy new graphics cards on a semi-regular basis, new mother board (in the worst case). There's no possible argument to support playing games on a PC/Mac - it's too much hassle.

And don't come back with a retort saying that the graphics are superior on a PC/Mac. That's not the ethos of a hardcore gamer, that's the ethos of a fucking graphics whore.

Anyway people, back to slagging off the Wii...
  • afghan_jones 7 years ago

    Loving the Wii backlash.

Been so sick for the last few months of people banging on about how fucking great it was, getting your gran and your mum playing games and all that shite.

Its a tossy faddy peripheral for an old console, and I hope it fucks off soon.

How dare they peddle their Gamecube-plus-Dreamcast-fishing-
    rod as a 'new' console???

Finally people are realising its actually quite toilet.

    Rant over.

  • Triggerhappytel 7 years ago

For the hardcore gamer like myself, bar one or two games the Wii holds literally no appeal at all for me.

I'm almost certain I won't ever bother shelling out for one. The lineup is shit.

EDIT - I had to mention this, re. Metroid Prime 3:

"The best first-person control on any console. Period."

He says it'll be the biggest and only FPS blockbuster this year.

Ha ha, fucking funny stuff, guys. Nothing like a bit of comedy to liven up a shit E3 exhibition.

It was a bit slow at the start (I only watched the opening live and the rest just now) but I thought the balance board thing was cool.

    @Aspic

If they're not meant to be some kind of alternative, why the fuck did they bother?

So, what was the pitch at the press conference before the release of Wii Sports?

"It's nowhere near as good as the real thing, but hey, you've only got to go out buy an entire new console for the pleasure."

I don't think so. I'm sure Nintendo heralded Wii Sports with the same vigour they're putting into Wii Fit.
  • polymorph 7 years ago

    @Spong

i would subsitute "goad" with jab in the ribbs!!

    Works for me.

I have a wii by the way, just that most of my games are virtual console ones.
  • Spong 7 years ago

    @polymorph

    Right. Gotcha.

Never been a big fan of net-play either really (on any machine). It just doesn't beat being able to goad your mate who's right there in the room with you.
  • polymorph 7 years ago

    @spong,

nah, you just mentioned the only plusses the wii had over the cube were NET-PLAY and a new controller.

And i was taking the piss with the net play, youve got mario strikers. or pokemon stadium which has been slated!!
  • Spong 7 years ago

    @polymorph

Sorry mate, you've lost me totally. Never liked Pokemon.

  • mowgli 7 years ago

Yeah because all the games coming out for it have suddenly disappeared! Because they made a peripheral!

lol, you're not fooling anyone. You don't have a Wii. Grow the fuck up, "clever" little troll.

lol actualy i have owned one since release day and although it hasnt fucked up like my sisters 360 it is never fucking played. It has incredible potential and the ability to be great but the games are fucking shite. The best one so far being an GC port!. The fact that no one is actualy trying to do something cool or different with it is what is letting it down. The only game that has been played on it in the past 8 months has been wind waker and resi 4 for the GC and gunstar heroes.

I do own a Wii and it was the biggest fucking waste of money i have ever spent. So you should grow the fuck up and stop bitching on a gaming forum. Go play something.......oh wait. sorry.
  • polymorph 7 years ago

i could probably play real tennis better with no strings!

  • JP 7 years ago

There is some seriously, massively pathetic gamer insecurity on display in this thread.

    That is all.
  • spongebob 7 years ago

I have to agree with Spong. If I want to get fit, I go out and jog, bike or go to a gym. I don't want to make my videogame console some kind of weird interactive gym where I feel like an idiot doing the exercises. I know eating healthy food and exercising works, I really don't need to transform my games console to a personal trainer.

It's one thing to have your videogame console as a home entertainment hub that houses music and video, that actually works and makes sense. It's completely different to think that it should dominate all the casual entertainment PLUS your health. That's really pushing it. If I want to play a good old family party game, I take out a Scrabble board. If I want to get sweaty and feel those endorphins, I do something about it, outside my house or at least not in front of a television.

AND then when I want to kill virtual bad guys or monsters, and jump out of the daily grind, I plug in my videogames console and enjoy the entertainment it provides.

To me Nintendo has really become just a more high profile toy company selling those direct-to-telly games machines. Even DS feels a bit stupid, and it's only because of the boring games line-up.
  • SniperWolf 7 years ago

Shigeru Miyamoto is a sell out. He's stopped trying to make great games, instead now he wants to make games that make the most money from soccer moms.

He's a sell out , just like any other artist who goes mainstream to make a quick buck,

He's the sell out king and Satoru Iwata and Reggie are his sell out partners in crime.

SELL OUTS, ABANDONED US ALL FOR SOCCER MOMS

  • polymorph 7 years ago

    @spongebob

The ignorent will still buy the same old shit.

  • FaceOmeter 7 years ago

Nikanoru is right. This thread is retarded.

Sorry to be a fanboy (i have sony and PC stuff too, honest!), but Wii Fit isn't the only game that the Wii's gonna have in the next twelve months. There'll be some other awesome nonsense too! Meanwhile, whilst "hardcore gamers" (?surely these words mean the opposite of each other?) play Metroid and Mario Kart, grannies all over Japan will be using Wii Fit to fund Nintendo's next effort, which may be a little more acceptable to your delicate girly palates.

And given the initial reactions to Brain Training, Wii Sports, and even the name 'Wii' itself, it might not be a great idea to be an early nay-sayer on Wii Fit...
  • Spong 7 years ago

"We are the ultimate interactive experience. The future should belong to all of us. And when that day comes; that videogames are accepted as the pre-eminent form of leisure entertainment by the greatest number of people over the greatest part of the world, then we might also be happy, and might also be satisfied."

So, is this a direct quote from Nintendo/Shigeru Miyamoto?

What unsettles me is the use of the word "leisure" next to the word "entertainment".

What aspect of using the Wii is leisurely? I don't consider being forced to waggle my hands around constantly as "leisurely". And I certainly don't consider it entertaining (unless I'm watching some other twat doing it).

Okay, so the above statement suggests that Nintendo are striving to make videogames the be-all and end-all of what to do with your leisure time. If that's the case, the Wii is a terrible first step.

All that talk of yoga and fitness - I couldn't give a fuck about that. What are Nintendo trying to do? I just wanna sit down and get sucked in to a game for a few hours. If I want to get fit, I'll get off my arse and go for a jog or go down the gym or stop smoking and eating pies. I already know I'm a lazy shit, I don't want a console ramming the fact down my throat.

Nintendo...shove it up your arse. I hope the Wii is the last machine you make.
  • JYM60 7 years ago

Was this really shit? Glad I played Darkness instead.
  • spongebob 7 years ago

Prediction - Wii Fit will sell 20 million.

I don't care. I want to play good games on a good console. I don't want some weird peripheral gadget gizmo that's about fitness applications, virtual characters and the like. So what if it sells 20 million copies. Crap music sells that and it still is crap.

To be fair, the only warning that the hardcore community have had over this is three years of practically non-stop Nintendo speeches, explicitly stating that they were going after the casual market.

  • polymorph 7 years ago

    @Psychotext,

If they ever move away from that?

OK there is more money in there new "touch generations" software, but they no full well that there is a huge market in there for new games in current franchises, and lots of money in virtual console releases for older IP.

I dont care what they say, there is still a huge part of there custemer base that are just massive fans, and will buy zelda's and mario's untill they don't make them anymore.

"Leaving behind it's fans for casual noobs."

Well, there do seem to be a few traditional, gamer type games on the horizon. And by the way, there's really nothing 'noob' about liking the more casual side of gaming at the same time.

It's calling being open minded, surely?
  • Dermoth 7 years ago

Never let it be said that "hardcore" gamers are tedious, self-obsessed whiners.

"How dare Nintendo make products that I'm not interested in? I AM OUTRAGED"

Right on, brothers. Fight the power. Rise up, oppressed gaming serfs! Let Nintendo know that you WON'T STAND FOR IT. That'll strike the fear of god into them, I'm sure.

Although they might just be too busy rewarding each other with stock options and hookers to notice.

Prediction - Wii Fit will sell 20 million.

  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

Reggie is Tony Blair and Nintendo are new Labour; Nintendo have changed their policies to attract the floating (casual) voter (gamer) (Wii) we have been sold down the river. Goodbye Nintendo.
  • SniperWolf 7 years ago

Leaving behind it's fans for casual noobs.
  • Yossarian 7 years ago

I'm no Nintendo apologist - those controller add-ons just seemd like a cynical exercise in milking money from the fans, for example - but some people just don't get it, do they?

no we get it, we just didn't think they would be so brazen about it. their few remaining hardcore titles increasingly look like a way to carrot along the hardcore until they don't need their foundational drive of sales anymore. then: non-games/mini-games deluge.
  • el_pollo_diablo 7 years ago

"Nintendo are chasing the dollar signs, then, and leaving us behind by the look of things."

    Leaving who behind, exactly?
  • Ares 7 years ago

That conference was shit alright but, FFS, give the drama queen antics a rest.

Metroid Prime 3 looked fantastic, as did Galaxy, and they claim Brawl is the best Smash Bros. yet which justifies the price of the Wii alone for me.

I'm no Nintendo apologist - those controller add-ons just seemd like a cynical exercise in milking money from the fans, for example - but some people just don't get it, do they?

Nintendo is not interested in dominating the hardcore market. It's interested in dominating the *whole* market - young, old, male, female.

Wii can't compete with Xbox360 and PS3, so it doesn't - instead, it's expanding into totally new areas.

There's no doubt that if you're a 'traditional' gamer (I refuse to use the term 'hardcore') you also need an Xbox360 or PS3, but courtesy of its controls Wii will deliver quality gaming experiences as essential as anything on those two formats.

Now, roll on SMG and MP3...
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

@polymorph: There's going to come a point when they move away from that kinda thing though. Wii Fit will have so much more profit in it than any of the Mario games because I guarantee Wii Fit took about 6 months to develop max.
  • Yossarian 7 years ago

I fully expect Sony to knock this one out of the park

if they don't grab the reins back now they deserve to lose
  • agparrot 7 years ago

    @Yossarian

if Microsoft scored a 7, then Nintendo scored a 5

I'll go along with this. I thought MS was a 6 at first but it sunk in quite positively over the course of the day. Killzone is still the most exciting thing at E3 so far, perhaps because it's just about the only new game shown.

I can't believe that both MS and Nintendo have left themselve open for what could... potentially... be a Sony sucker punch in PR terms.

But... it has to actually happen yet....
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

Oh, and that Wii Fit needs some body fat measuring pads. Reggie wouldn't have got away with the muscle comment then. =)
  • polymorph 7 years ago

    @ManicMinerUK,

    Close, but not quite yet,

I grew up with nintendo, while my brother always had the sega systems, so i played all the games at the time,

Nintendo always made the best games, im now a xbox lover (orignal and 360). but i have my wii(while my brother now has a 360 as well). as long as they still make good mario and zelda games, i will buy the consoles just for those games alone.
  • afghan_jones 7 years ago

Utter toilet, Nintendo are disappearing up their own arse and arent really doing games much anymore.

Once again, I laught bitterly at all those who leapt on the Wii bandwagon hailing it as the real next gen. Enjoy wobbling around on your plastic boards surrounded by mounds of Wiimote clipon guns/wheels etc. Ha!
  • Monkey_Puncher 7 years ago

Microsofts at least showed off games, even if there was nothing new. Sony's conference will surely be much better, they need a big E3 after last year and the fact they're in 3rd place right now.
  • Yossarian 7 years ago

if Microsoft scored a 7, then Nintendo scored a 5

The Wii Fit board could be used for Tony Hawk and snow boarding games. I wanted to hear about a new Wii Zelda and some Mario sports titles getting the Wii-mote treatment; Jesus at least the Microsoft conference had some interesting video footage of up and coming games. This was even worse.
  • dredd97 7 years ago

'That's exactly it. Nintendo have gone from third place to owning the games industry, and with their newfound power what do they do? Grow a vagina.'

    LOL

    best quote ever...
  • spongebob 7 years ago

Apart from the Resident Evil and the Zapper bit, it looks like Nintendo has totally converted into a toy manufacturer. It's about silly party games and fitness programs, it's about being just fun and easy. I am sure there's space for that in the industry. Clearly the sales figures say so, but I don't know if I personally want to be part of that videogames boom.

Nintendo is and wants to be a family gamestation, no matter what they say and tell us. Their primary thing is doing party games, Mario franchising and, now, gimmicky control products for fitness applications.
  • MoGamer2006 7 years ago

Leipzig is primarily a consumer show; doubt there will be many big new announcements there - just updated builds of stuff at E3.

Nope, TGS is where it'll be, IMHO.
  • kaosridder 7 years ago

hmm, a console without any games worth noticing. Seems like they are pulling a cube. Again.
  • Caimbeul 7 years ago

But all this 'Nintendo has abandoned gaming' bull... so SMG, SSBM, MP3 and MK were all figments of my imagination, were they?"

Five (if you inc Zelda) games do not maketh a successful system...especially when they are so thin on the ground when it comes to release dates (look how long they have taken so far and they arent even here yet.) on top of that you have what is likely to be (i am willing to be proven wrong) gimmicky controls and last gen graphics + having to pay a fortune for the wii-mote's and nunchuck needed for lots of people multiplayer.
  • DanMW 7 years ago

Microsoft gave a dull press conference and Nintendo are going after the daytime TV audience. It's all up to Sony now in an hour.
  • MoGamer2006 7 years ago

I think this and the MS conference both underline how E3 has fallen in significance to the games industry.

Both companies dealt with very little beyond end of year 2007 (Stateside, anyway). I doubt Sony's will be much different.

Reckon out last best hope for big new games news is TGS in September...

  • agparrot 7 years ago

Now it all becomes clear - Reggie has been beefing up for this!
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

@sport: Wii Weights confirmed? Cos what they're doing wont gain you many muscles.
  • toy_brain 7 years ago

Right, I'm off out to buy a gun, inject Heroin into my eyeballs and kick puppies.
  • SniperWolf 7 years ago

I know they don't give a shit about me anymore, that's why I bought a 360 to go with my Wii fitness machine or whatever the fuck it is now
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

Ha Ha it doesnt work at all. What a disaster of a demo!!
  • Deacan 7 years ago

Whats stops me from buying a fitness DvD and doing the same thing for a whole lot less?
  • penguin_overlord 7 years ago

I think this press conference proves above all else that Nintendo are going after the mainstream market and this should come as a surprise to no one. It's that market which has been their major growth area. They proved with the Gamecube that they could no longer compete for the 'hardcore' audience. Nintendo are a business like any other and they're in the business of making money.

The Wii is not a powerful enough machne to compete against the 360 and PS3 for the hardcore market. We all know it's just a rebadged Gamecube but the general populous don't care about that.
  • Devious_Droid 7 years ago

    This... is... terrible.
  • sport 7 years ago

you all will thank Ninty when you're a muscle bound adonis in a years time thanks to this
  • Caimbeul 7 years ago

Thats it, Im not even going to watch/read this anymore. ffs Nintendo! you may have sold gazillions of Wii's to people (Mii included) but this REALLY isnt the way to go. I guess its all up to MS and Sony now.
  • SniperWolf 7 years ago

"Sharon" does a one-legged stretch, pushing her leg out behind her and bringing her knee up in front

    finally some action
  • Monkey_Puncher 7 years ago

it's like one of those fucking adverts for excercise equipment they have on cable channels, next thing they'll bring out fucking Chuck Norris to do some handstands...
  • Chim_chimma_nee! 7 years ago

They really have stopped making games haven't they?

None of these 'things' feels like games in my understanding.

The mass market has killed it for me. again.
  • agparrot 7 years ago

You don't NEED Wii fit to do that shit!
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

Broken am confirmed! Im in ur balance pad messing wid ur show
  • NCE_Erinan 7 years ago

    Wii Fit live demo!

Has Nintendo even seen PS2's Eyetoy Kinetic and Eyetoy Combat??????!!!!

  • spazmo 7 years ago

hhaaaaa hhaa hhhaaa Miyamoto is crazy doolally !!!!!????@@@
  • richardiox 7 years ago

Holy hell, Wii Fit is the megaton..."the last game we are featuring today"

    :-(

What a poor outing. Literally nothing that wasnt already known about other than Wii Fit which isnt even a game. Total abandonment of the hardcore market surely?

Even Miyamoto can't make this seem entertaining.
  • twinbee 7 years ago

Nintendo have somehow topped Sony (last year) on the most boring conference.
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Things are looking up - bring on the DANCING GIRLS!
  • JayeM 7 years ago

I can do half this stuff without having to have my Wii and TV on.
  • Monkey_Puncher 7 years ago

Nintendo I used to love you.....these days I'm not even sure you're interested in making games anymore. They're either far too short, or fucking fitness programmes....
  • JayeM 7 years ago

    Complete rubbish!
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

@SniperWolf: They don't give a shit about you any more.
  • LeShin 7 years ago

    My god!

Eyetoy Kinetic pisses all over WiiFit.....and that was on the PS2!!!
  • SniperWolf 7 years ago

All this conference says to me is Nintendo have abandoned the people who got them where they are and have moved on to soccer moms and middle class families who sit around the fire playing Brain age together.

treat your hardcore fans with respect or go fuck yourselves Nintendo
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Are they going to release a carrycase I can put my Wii, pad, mat, wheel, gun and extra controllers in?
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

    Is that Henry?
  • Ihya 7 years ago

A game where you do press ups! Its what the hard core market has been crying out for!
  • richardiox 7 years ago

Wii fucking Pilates. That isnt excersise, that's just totally shit.

And the way they hyped it up, I was expecting Wii Sports 2 or Wii Music or something that may be potentially good.
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

    Wii Fit = Wii Shit.
  • spazmo 7 years ago

    oh my gooooooooood
  • twinbee 7 years ago

    It's another piece of plastic!

  • MoGamer2006 7 years ago

    Another frikkin' peripheral!?!?!??!?
  • Steroyd 7 years ago

    we can only hope.

/expects GTA announcement of some sort.
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

lol... my nephew is a huge Nintendo fanboy and he's turned the conference off in disgust.
  • mossychops001 7 years ago

Nintendo blackmailing parents to get there fat kids to do some exercise?
  • Monkey_Puncher 7 years ago

Holy shit word games and eye site training, are Nintendo boring us to tears deliberatly to then hit us with a megaton announcement at the end?
  • LeShin 7 years ago

    aaaaaaaaaagh! another self promoting clip!
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

    Wii Sports II.
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

This is clearly now only targeted at the USA and not the world. Shame E3 is dead..
  • Deacan 7 years ago

    Argh not again.
  • Steroyd 7 years ago

    I can't believe I'm happy I don't own a wii.
  • agparrot 7 years ago

    Promises. to. make. everything. better.
  • Kazzahdrane 7 years ago

I think Reggie is underestimating the number of European journalists in the audience, they don't care about American dates.
  • Monkey_Puncher 7 years ago

It's because the audience fell asleep listening to Iwata..
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

Eh, the megaton was clearly the plastic holder shaped like a wheel!
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

Oh and brain age 2 is shit... give us big brain game 2. Far better.
  • JayeM 7 years ago

    High School Musical! MEGATON!
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Nooooooooooooooo! Please NO! not high school dancing!
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

Did they mention they made Nintendogs?
  • richardiox 7 years ago

SMG Nov in USA is cutting it fine to get it out here this year. Surely Nintendo wouldn't miss that trick though?
  • twinbee 7 years ago

    Show us some new games!
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

Well, that's confirmed. Wii is ONLY for casuals now... bleh.
  • Kiigan 7 years ago

Aaaaah what about Europe Reggie you shit!?
  • MoGamer2006 7 years ago

Don't think the SMG release date got the whoop Reggies was expecting... =O
  • mossychops001 7 years ago

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence , rice and rat meat?
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

SMG looks kinda confusing to play in places... best thing in the show though.
  • Deacan 7 years ago

God these Nintendo are the best clips are really starting to annoy me, they are so cheesey.
  • Steroyd 7 years ago

Good or bad Sony's conferences always give us new memes to use until next year. :)

Except no more Kutaragi memes. :(
  • LeShin 7 years ago

    Okay I own a PS3....

MS conference was actually ok in hindsight, I liked the idea of Mass Effect, PGR4 looks really good and if Bioshock wasn't coming on a PC, I think I would've bought a 360!

Nintendos conference.............not one thing makes me want to go out and buy a Wii. I think they've already won the console hardware war, but as for software....not a chance. Having sequel after sequel after sequel is beginning to bore me to tears.
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Alright, alright, just get all these wankers together and make a new series of Friends FFS.
  • Monkey_Puncher 7 years ago

Wow videos of cheesy fake people playing Wii's....
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

looks like EG is now struggling under the traffic as well. Imagine if they had video!
  • Deacan 7 years ago

    Shiggy is on the way.
  • Deacan 7 years ago

    Shiggy is on the way.
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

    Miyamoto. \o/
  • Monkey_Puncher 7 years ago

Other than Mario Kart this conference is f***ing mindnumbing. Iwata should maybe make a DS sleep training game, he's sending me off...
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

Iwata is more interesting when he speaks in his native tongue; I can't understand a word but he is still more interesting.
  • Caimbeul 7 years ago

    ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz!

Boring so far and arrogant! Metroid 3 "the best FPS, the only hit this year" !!!WTF??? whee have they been. This year would be the toughest yet for competition i would say. No hjyperbole my ass.
  • JayeM 7 years ago

Sony don't have to do much to beat this. :|
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

I think the sony one will steal the show based on these 2.
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Isn't he sailing a bit close to alienating the hardcore, here?
  • twinbee 7 years ago

This is the last conference I'll ever watch.

    What about the Sony one?
  • RedPanda 7 years ago

"Looks like weve got Excitetruck controls"

    sound
  • agparrot 7 years ago

I feel I should subject myself to the Sony one, if only for completeness sake.
  • Halo.Jones 7 years ago

We'll race real-time on the internet. Tracks through mine carts. Online battle mode for the first time. Cows mooing around tracks. Hints at big player-numbers.

Features List on the back of the box - Cows Mooing around tracks...

I'll buy that for a dollar! Then again, maybe not...

  • richardiox 7 years ago

    MEGATON!

Iwata; "yes, i have parents too"
  • agparrot 7 years ago

    Iwata-has-parents shocker!
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

Ok, I'm off to smash my brain out with a brick. Cya in the next life.

Oh, actually I suppose I should wait to see what Sony do first.
  • gamingdave 7 years ago

Looked like there were some older levels in Karts there, I think I saw one of the DS courses. Just give us ALL the courses from all the versions so far.

Looks like weve got Excitetruck controls, along with others, there was spinning in the air over jumps.
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

This is the last conference I'll ever watch.
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

2 boring conferences so far. If this is the new E3 its crap.
  • sport 7 years ago

Yes Yes we know Iwata san - the wii appeals to non-gamers!!! Get on with it!!!
  • richardiox 7 years ago

Contrast this show to last years. Hopefully there will be some exciting stuff out on the show floor that we wont see in this presentation.

Is this something to do with there being "less emphasis" on E3 this year or do we have to wait til E3 08 to see Wii Music, Animal Crossing, Pilotwings...
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Come on Iwata, this should be good.
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

More self love... get out the hand cream.
  • Kazzahdrane 7 years ago

Those of you who can't view a stream, you're missing absolutely nothing :(
  • richardiox 7 years ago

MK Wii looked virtually identical to Double Dash Saw the same old familiar courses in there too.
  • FunkyRenegade 7 years ago

The Wiimote holder that will come with Mario Kart will cost so much, seeing as how it does actually come packaged with the game and all....
  • gingerlink 7 years ago

this is where I jump around at the back shouting I wanna see because none of the streams seem to be working for me at all, lousy media player...
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Wii Console Cheap - how many bits of hardware do I need on top of it FFS?
  • twinbee 7 years ago

    A wheel? Fuck that.
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

  • JayeM 7 years ago

    Mario Kart!
  • agparrot 7 years ago

JUST TELL US HOW MANY MORE RACERS!
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

    Mario Kart Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
    iiiiiiiiiii.
  • FunkyRenegade 7 years ago

    MARIO KART ^_^
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

Oh ffs 2008 for Mario Kart.
  • Inquisitor 7 years ago

That 'check mii out' thing is cute.
  • Kazzahdrane 7 years ago

Give us some goddamn games Reggie, FFS :(
  • richardiox 7 years ago

They have spent the last 40 minutes just bigging themselves up without showing NEW (other than Zapper and Mii Channel).

"To those who say 'but whay about serious internet gaming' I give you the example of Pokemon" o_O
  • Steroyd 7 years ago

Are Nintendo pimpin' Metroid Prime 3 like MS did to Halo earlier? o_O

Seriously what is wrong with these companies!?
  • Ihya 7 years ago

I freely admit I'm not a Nintendo fan, but so far I'm not really feeling much. Tell me what I'm missing.
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

    America America America....
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

    @ManicMinerUK - You're 100% right about the underdog thing.
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Yeah, who hasn't already got an Adolf Hitler Mii?
  • richardiox 7 years ago

Hard-drive announcement now or never - re: VC games catalogue.

    Check Mii Out!
  • gingerlink 7 years ago

    gamespot ain't working at all

and this guy COMPLETELY forgot about halo 3....
  • richardiox 7 years ago

Doubt that was "early build" Prime footage this near to release. Still just saying "Fall 07" and not commiting to a date.
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

and yeah, I'm on gamespot 700k feed.
  • twinbee 7 years ago

The Gamespot feed is working just fine for me.
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

Why didn't Metroid blow me away. =( Damnit.
  • agparrot 7 years ago

Oh dear, Metroid looks like a slowdown fest whenever there are explosions and more than 2 enemies on screen.

I hope this is just early build... or maybe internet delay :(
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

Gamespot video feed is awful again. Site wo'tt load and the video I did manage to load up is about 1 frame every 5 seconds.
  • richardiox 7 years ago

Oh dear, Metroid looks like a slowdown fest whenever there are explosions and more than 2 enemies on screen.
  • Inquisitor 7 years ago

    Oh do shut up sir.
  • gingerlink 7 years ago

who's the moron writing this? they just said the character you control in Zelda is Zelda, that's a rookie mistake!
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

    Go Jackie.
  • Psychotext 7 years ago

    Metroid... wooot.
  • LeShin 7 years ago

Man, my condolences to Sega, I used to love them. They must be really in need of money to show their mascot go as fast as Mario lol!
  • woodnotes 7 years ago

    WORST press conference ever.

So far, at least. And for some reason I really want to punch Reggie on the nose.
  • richardiox 7 years ago

Could do with some announcements for DS & Wii games we havent already known about for the last 6 months. NEW ME.

  • old_skool 7 years ago

Wii with HDMI, maybe when they release the Loo or whatever the next system will be called, but not in the Wii. A HDD though that's a possibility.
  • Razorus 7 years ago

Yeah that won't happen, but theres a nice chance that Goldeneye will appear on Virtual Console. All they have to do is adapt the C buttons 2 work smoothly on a 2nd analogue stick and presto. And most likely someone's gonna say "but that was a Rare game, and they lost the license to Bond" etc etc. So what? They owe it to us fans! They're gonna get paid for it so they might as well!
  • myiagros 7 years ago

Having had a brief think about it i think we could see Nintendogs and maybe Mario American Foolball for Wii.

I would like to see Pikmin and a Smash Bros for DS.
  • rudedudejude 7 years ago

He's gonna talk about his moma and you know it!

Oi! No text commentary allowed during the presentation! You'll be bowsered ya will!
  • playgen 7 years ago

If Goldeneye appeared on wii with no slow down, no blurry low resolution, online play and actually uses the wii remote for playing and that worked properly, I'd have to buy a Wii.

Can't see that happening though sadly
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

Evryone on here for the evening then? Nintendo then Sony more or less straight after, barely going to be enough time to assess the performance before we move onto the next one.

Party, Mini, easily accessible, 'non' games will be Nintendo's focus. :( Come on Nintendo, prove me wrong...
  • old_skool 7 years ago

Wait for it...new Mario, new Zelda, coming xmas 2008. Otherwise the usual drol about making my wife play games blah blah.
  • lennon 7 years ago

@GiantHaystax - Depends how you look at it. MS were showing games they are delivering this side of xmas. Nintendo can wave the wiimote around as much as they like but it aint gonna bring the games to a console near you any time soon.

Unless of course they do announce a load of games due in Europe this side of xmas in which case I will be impressed.
  • Carlo 7 years ago

  • gizmo 7 years ago

"Last year at the old-style event in LA, legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto strode into the limelight and opened by conducting a virtual orchestra using the Wiimote as a conductor's baton "

Says it all doesn't it? Still can't actually do this a year later!
  • GiantHaystax 7 years ago

Should be a good show. Don't have to do much to beat the MS one last night/this morning. Hopefully they will show the goods only for us to be disapointed in 6 months timr when we see none of it over here.
  • Carlo 7 years ago

this by far will have the greatest number of fanboy posts.

    Both for and against Nintendo.

Maybe adding saturn/dreamcast to the VC?

I just hope they aren't going to hype DS - Wii connectivity...

"I also wouldn't bet against new Wii versions of Mario Tennis & Mario Golf. "

Yes, both with their already perfect control schemes all fucked up by motion control. :(
  • Sid-Nice 7 years ago

I've had kangaroo meat and it tastes like a mixture of chicken, rabbit and beef; I did have sex with a female rue and her snatch smelt a bit fishy.

I can't see Nintendo giving us any exciting surprises today; I'd cream my kegs if they announced a 1080p enabled Wii with a 60 Gig HDD for Christmas bundled with GTA 4. :)

  • myiagros 7 years ago

New Mario Kart, New Pikmin and vague hint at a new Zelda.

Thats my guess, and maybe Red Steel 2 (Like we wern't punished enough with the first one).

I also wouldn't bet against new Wii versions of Mario Tennis & Mario Golf.
  • jonsaan 7 years ago

Go on Ninty. They are going to announce Game and Watch DS.:)
  • Razorus 7 years ago

Yeah man, Goldeneye For The Win! I want to see some info on No More Heroes, that's what I'm looking forward to the most apart from the obvious ones like Smash Bros, Prime 3, and Galaxy. Sexual Chocolate.
  • The12thMonkey 7 years ago

Not sure what to expect from this, tbh. We'll probably see the stuff we know about, but I don't know if we'll get to see anything that's under wraps... Hmmm... just don't know. Guess I'll hang around and find out, eh?
  • Kon 7 years ago

I though they were only going to broadcast the MS conf for free. Guess i was wrong :)

    Thanks AG.
  • Britesparc 7 years ago

Mario Kart better bloody be there.

GoldenEye on VC wouldn't go amiss, either.
  • Kilroy 7 years ago

My hope is this: Lots of proper games, and hopefully less of Touch Generation!-things. Some pretty decent exclusives wouldn't be bad, too.

Should do the trick - the cheesey pre-conference presenters were a bit overbearing before the MS show last night, but it ran consistently all the way through, for me.

Edit: Think you need to have Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player to run it, though.

Our live coverage has now ended. Here's what you missed: Updating...

16:33 By Robert Purchese

We're here but standing in the lobby while they prepare themselves. It's like the bit before a school play.

16:37 By Robert Purchese

We're standing in exactly the same place. It's busy, hot, and static. Usual Nintendo E3 slowness.

16:53 By Robert Purchese

ROUND TWO. We're inside the Civic Centre auditorium in Santa Monica. The lobby was a bit like the build-up to a school play. Inside it's a bit better. A man with a metal box on his head is wandering around as everyone takes their seats. A three-part NI NTEN DO screen backs a big stage with a small podium.

16:48 By Robert Purchese

Around the sides there are exciting LIFESTYLE photos of women, grandparents, kids and even the occasional man playing Wii and DS.

16:50 By Robert Purchese

LIFESTYLE PHOTO STATS: 19 white, 5 Asian, 2 African America, 4 old, 2 kids. Mark from GamesIndustry.biz reckons it breaks diversity laws.

16:52 By Robert Purchese

Predictions? Mario Kart Wii this year, Wii Sports 2, Christmas launch for Mario Galaxy, and Miyamoto dressed up as Princess Peach playing Wii tennis with Nicole Kidman.

16:56 By Robert Purchese

"Ladies and gentlemen, the show will begin in approximately five minutes." Woo! Finish the fight!

17:01 By Robert Purchese

Shouldn't be more than a minute or two now. Pretty much everyone is in. And we're not sitting on sponges slapped on concrete today, so my bottom will be fine.

17:02 By Robert Purchese

Lights go down. "Sit down for goodness sake," the announcer more or less says.

17:03 By Robert Purchese

Talking silly NES console probably off YouTube. I don't know - I'm not cool. Shots of South Park, Colbert Report Wii bits. Lots of media headlines of success.

17:04 By Robert Purchese

It's a reel showing off how popular DS and Wii are, and how they've achieved mainstream recognition. Lots of footage from news reports and so on.

17:04 By Robert Purchese

Reggie takes the stage as the trailer ends. His Mii joins him on one of the screens.

17:06 By Robert Purchese

"My name is Reggie - and I am happy. Today is more than a press conference or a business meeting. We see today as a celebration." "This E3 marks a conclusive turning point," he says.

17:08 By Robert Purchese

"This could be a coming out party for an entire industry when videogames take their place... as a staple of leisure entertainment."

17:09 By Robert Purchese

69 per cent of growth this year from Nintendo platforms, he says. It's a whirlwind of stats, and not just for Ninty. Industry growth is up 115 per cent in Japan, apparently.

17:10 By Robert Purchese

Nintendo DS doubled its sales percentage of all videogame consoles from 12 to 23 per cent. Reggie jokes that the other bit of the big green bar is down to the GBA.

17:11 By Robert Purchese

Players between 18 - 24 have grown 6 full share points since 2005. 25+ have grown to account for a third of all revenues, "This is where potential lives."

17:12 By Robert Purchese

For Nintendo's business in the US, over 25s have grown 9 share points. It's 23 per cent at 25+, 17 percent between 18 - 24, the rest below 18.

17:12 By Robert Purchese

"The Nintendo DS may be the beacon that's lighting the way to the future of the entire games industry."

17:13 By Robert Purchese

It's graph city and Reggie's the mayor. He says male/female split is 80/20. For Nintendo it's 67/33. Soure: NPD.

17:14 By Robert Purchese

"The core of the market is still the core of the Wii market." 66 per cent of males 25 - 49 play though, and three quarters of women in the same group have tried it, with a third as regular users.

17:15 By Robert Purchese

He admits he'd be saying it's all just a fad if he were the competition. But he points out the DS went past 40 million units sold months ago and continues to grow.

17:16 By Robert Purchese

"Wii is poised to become the number one worldwide in this generation very soon." "Nintendo is not a fad, Nintendo is the future."

17:17 By Robert Purchese

140 more titles this year for DS, 100 new games for Wii this year. "The development community realises the opportunity."

17:18 By Robert Purchese

Trailer reel. More YouTube videos of people loving Wii. More headlines off columns, telly and the Internet.

17:19 By Robert Purchese

"Now I welcome to the world, the first offspring of the Wii remote and the Nunchuk: The Wii Zapper." It's a lightgun that houses both like a machinegun.

17:20 By Robert Purchese

Could do for RPS what Wiimote did for Sports, he says. The front grip has the Wiimote with trigger and the back one has the Nunchuk with analogue.

17:21 By Robert Purchese

Plays up Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Ghost Squad's importance to Zapper. We should be able to play with the Zapper at E3, he says.

17:21 By Robert Purchese

EA's Medal of Honor for Wii takes specific advantage of the Zapper. Up to 32 people online.

17:22 By Robert Purchese

Nintendo has its own Wii Zapper product, of course. It will be packaged with the Nintendo's software, he says. Otherwise it's USD 19.99.

17:22 By Robert Purchese

The Wiimote actually lies across the top of the barrel, with a bigger trigger in the front stick that presumably compresses the Wiimote's "B" button.

17:23 By Robert Purchese

He's PRing a few third-party games. Smackdown 2008 for Wii and DS, and Soul Calibur Legends. Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword on DS is shown too.

17:24 By Robert Purchese

Square Enix's Dragon Quest Swords is shown. Mario & Sonic, too. "You've never put them through their paces as you will" with the Olympics game.

17:25 By Robert Purchese

Super Smash Bros. Brawl next. "When? Well, not next year, not next spring - I can announce today... December 3rd."

17:25 By Robert Purchese

... in North America, obviously. "The best Smash Bros. ever by far," says Reggie. No wooping yet. Where are all the fanboys this year?

17:26 By Robert Purchese

Another video, with a couple of folks who run a Wii website. Apparently they like Nintendo products!

17:26 By Robert Purchese

Oh God. Some woman is talking about loving Samus because she's not a damsel in distress. Stop. Oh, they do.

17:27 By Robert Purchese

Oh, they're coming on stage. And it's the bloke, not the bird. They're going to demo Zelda Phantom Hourglass.

17:28 By Robert Purchese

You can see him dragging the stylus to guide Zelda around the Zelda dungeons we've seen. It's 3D, but looks half Link to the Past, half Wind Waker, I guess.

17:29 By Robert Purchese

Swapping between tools looks very easy, as you use a grapple to pull things around, cross gaps and solve puzzles.

17:30 By Robert Purchese

Bill from Nintendo says this is his favourite DS game yet. He promises it's not hyperbole. "The hardcore are absolutely loving it."

17:32 By Robert Purchese

Aha, and it's Jackie, the girl one. She's going to play Metroid Prime 3. "The best first-person control on any console. Period." Is that hyperbole, Bill?

17:32 By Robert Purchese

Three sensitivity settings, which helps the game work well in intense battles, we're told. "Hyper mode" makes you devastating: do it too long and you'll be corrupted.

17:33 By Robert Purchese

He says it'll be the biggest and only FPS blockbuster this year. Not in Europe, probably.

17:34 By Robert Purchese

Reggie's back and turns attention to online. Says Nintendo is already serious about it, but maybe we hadn't noticed. Video! People talking about DS Wi-Fi.

17:35 By Robert Purchese

5.5 million players have used Wi-Fi Connection. 230 million gameplay sessions. He jokes that they've yet to spend their first dollar to connect wirelessly.

17:35 By Robert Purchese

Wii Virtual Console channel has done 5.6 million downloads. 112 on there in the US so far.

17:37 By Robert Purchese

And of course there's WiiWare (Wii Software in Europe), beginning next year. "Today I can announce a new channel - one devoted specifically to Miis". Called "Check Mii out". People can vote on them, search popular ones and take home the ones you like.

17:53 By Robert Purchese

Talks about the links between Pokemon DS and Wii, and Mario Strikers, which has yet to launch in the US.

17:38 By Robert Purchese

Adds that EA's Madden and FIFA will both be online, which we knew.

17:39 By Robert Purchese

Apart from the Zapper, this has been a bit dull so far. And that's saying something. GH3, Dragon Quest Joker... New balls, please!

17:39 By Robert Purchese

"I have one more announcement that should prove our case." aha. Mario Kart Wii. Global, online, Q1 2008.

17:40 By Robert Purchese

We'll race real-time on the internet. Tracks through mine carts. Online battle mode for the first time. Cows mooing around tracks. Hints at big player-numbers.

17:40 By Robert Purchese

A variety of control choices offered with a custom Wii wheel to debut alongside the game. You strap the Wiimote to the back.

17:41 By Robert Purchese

Graphically it looks like the Cube Double Dash, but the tracks and karts are different. Doesn't appear to be doing the two-player-on-a-cart.

17:42 By Robert Purchese

Looks like it's time for another video of people saying that Nintendo products are great! "This is definitely okay," says someone's Gran.

17:42 By Robert Purchese

Did you know ALPHA MOMS like Wii? You do now.

17:43 By Robert Purchese

He says the products so far are aimed "squarely at the bullseye" of the games market. Iwata's coming on to show more mainstream stuff.

17:44 By Robert Purchese

Looking dapper as usual. "I played my first videogames 30 years ago. In those days, there were not many gamers. From the star, I thought it would be wonderful if some day everyone could find the same enjoyment I was having."

17:45 By Robert Purchese

"To do this, we would have to respond with new proposals and tangible products. So far we are seeing some positive results." Nintendogs and Brain Age flash up.

17:45 By Robert Purchese

"When people start to sweat playing tennis in their own living rooms, this kind of thing attracts many who never played before."

17:46 By Robert Purchese

There's a paradigm shift in his house apparently. DS Cookbook has convinced him to spend time cooking for his family, he says. Exclusive: Iwata likes onions.

17:47 By Robert Purchese

He says his parents told him he was wasting his life. Everyone laughs politely. SHOW NEW STUFF, SATORU.

17:48 By Robert Purchese

"Today we are seeing it is not impossible to expand the gaming population. Our next immediate challenge is this: to destroy the psychological barrier that separates veteran gamers from novice gamers."

17:49 By Robert Purchese

That's not a bad idea. They said they felt Mario Kart's controls would level the playing field, too. "We must accept that games are for everyone."

17:50 By Robert Purchese

Says the Wii Zapper will erase the complexity that casual gamers couldn't overcome. These games don't need to be ruled out for the expanded audience any more, he says.

17:50 By Robert Purchese

That said, games should scale up so that even veteran players get what they want, he adds. Miyamoto to introduce new title in a few mins, he says.

17:51 By Robert Purchese

"Not only new games forever, but new gamers forever," he says as he wanders off and another video of LIFESTYLE HUMANS liking Nintendo comes up.

17:52 By Robert Purchese

This is a bit better - footage of Mario Galaxy as bloke plays it. Kids with braces going "catch the rabbit". The point is games are more communal now, I guess.

17:52 By Robert Purchese

Brain Age 2 being shown off. Whoever this family is, they love them some Nintendo. "Before Brain Age, the last game I played was Pac-Man," says MOM.

17:54 By Robert Purchese

Reggie's back. He says Brain Age 2 is more popular than the original in Japan. "Until you play this game, you have no idea how hard it is to purposely lose at rock, paper, scissors." Out in US on August 20th.

17:54 By Robert Purchese

"In one sense, this is the first worthy successor to Mario 64," Reggie says of Galaxy, and yet it's "instantly accessible". US: November 12th.

17:55 By Robert Purchese

How much more mainstream stuff can there be, Reggie asks himself. "We're just getting started." Yay, Picross DS is shown.

17:55 By Robert Purchese

Shows MySims on Wii and DS. "The appeal is immediately approachable." It looks very cute.

17:56 By Robert Purchese

High School Musical from Disney for Wii and DS - inspired by the films of the same name. Shows Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 - "it's even nuttier!"

17:57 By Robert Purchese

Brain Age sales at 15 million units around the world. "But can this thing grow? We and other people think so." Vision training - "Flash Focus" - is already out in Japan.

17:58 By Robert Purchese

Points to Ubisoft's casual games including My Word Coach. "This is one game where your Mom may end up schooling you."

17:58 By Robert Purchese

"Of course, all this stems to the popularity of Wii Sports." Time for a video of people who reckon Wii games improve your health.

18:00 By Robert Purchese

"The last game we're featuring today takes our big leads in audience expansion and effectively laps the competition." "Wii Fit is it."

18:01 By Robert Purchese

You stand on a sort of step and have to balance your limbs holding Wiimote in a certain position. Exercises swinging legs back and forward, press-ups, the lot.

18:01 By Robert Purchese

Hula Hoop twirling actions. They don't appear to be holding Wiimotes as they do this, so the step presumably doesn't need them. Ooh, head tennis.

18:02 By Robert Purchese

Step aerobics dancing. Comparing Body Mass Index with the whole family. Balancing balls into holes by tilting on the step.

18:03 By Robert Purchese

Yoga. People walk onto stage to demonstrate, and are joined by Shigeru Miyamoto in a loud shirt and jacket. He's talking in Japanese. "Have you all been getting your sweat on lately?"

18:04 By Robert Purchese

Says he wanted to introduce this more than he wanted to show Galaxy, Metroid or Mario Kart. He says Wii needed to be relevant to everyone in the household.

18:04 By Robert Purchese

"The one subject we thought we had to have to achieve this was health. As you can see, we have three fitness trainers with us today." They're going to demo.

18:05 By Robert Purchese

"Sharon" does a one-legged stretch, pushing her leg out behind her and bringing her knee up in front as the game instructs.

18:06 By Robert Purchese

Doing this while maintaining balance improves muscles that help with balance. John is now demoing step aerobics. Icons on screen show you which combos of feet to do.

18:06 By Robert Purchese

You have to match the timing of the icons to the music. A sort of mixture of rhythm action and aerobics, then. Miis on screen help dictate rhythm.

18:07 By Robert Purchese

Josephine on the right shows sideways twist. Miyamoto apologises for a few glitches in the demo and says it'll be on show floor.

18:08 By Robert Purchese

"Wii Fit features four genres of activities - aerobics, muscle conditioning, yoga poses, and some balance games." Over 40 activities in the game.

18:09 By Robert Purchese

He holds up the step. "We're calling it the Wii Balance Board." It can measure weight, how your balance shifts as you're standing on it. It'll be a new interface for games that accepts full-body movement as input. And it's wireless.

18:10 By Robert Purchese

One more element he wants to show is measurement. He's going to do a body check... on Reggie.

18:10 By Robert Purchese

"My body is ready." He steps on when the game instructs. It asks what kind of clothing - light or heavy. "Heavy clothing!" he shouts. They select light.

18:11 By Robert Purchese

He's asked to release tension and stand still. It walks you through results - your centre of gravity first.

18:11 By Robert Purchese

It shows that Reggie's balance is slightly to the right. "Do you maintain good daily posture?" the game asks. A graph will help track this as you improve over time.

18:12 By Robert Purchese

Comparing progress to others in the family ought to be fun. The devs apparently are competing to be slim using it.

18:13 By Robert Purchese

The game shows BMI, not weight. Reggie's is 27.51. "Overweight" yells the game. Laughter.

18:13 By Robert Purchese

"Just remember - the muscle is heavier than fat," Reggie says. "Excuses!" Miyamoto says. Reggie glares.

18:14 By Robert Purchese

Head-to-head soccer heading session between Miyamoto and Reggie. On-screen, your Mii shows your posture and the ball's position, allowing for easy heading.

18:15 By Robert Purchese

Reggie is having trouble dodging the boots that occasionally fly at you. But he still wins by a margin.

18:15 By Robert Purchese

That looked pretty cool. Miyamoto leaves to applause. Reggie says he began by saying he was happy. "But please understand, we're not close to being satisfied."

18:16 By Robert Purchese

Pays tribute to the creativity, salesmanship and leadership at work in the industry, "And this is Nintendo's moment to lead."

18:17 By Robert Purchese

"Our primary target is much wider. There are 24 hours in every day, and only a small amount of time is available for leisure entertainment. Minute by minute, we intend to steal more of that time for videogames."

18:19 By Robert Purchese

"We are the ultimate interactive experience. The future should belong to all of us. And when that day comes; that videogames are accepted as the pre-eminent form of leisure entertainment by the greatest number of people over the greatest part of the world, then we might also be happy, and might also be satisfied." That's it. Lights come up. Laters!
