NinjaBee cloning Cloning Clyde News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

13 August, 2009

Xbox Live Arcade specialist NinjaBee is buzzy making a spiritual successor to Cloning Clyde.

That's what Queen bee Steve Taylor said on the Gathering of Gamers podcast (picked up by Joystiq), amidst other promises of an update for A Kingdom for Keflings.

Taylor hopes to make a proper announcement "within a month".

Cloning Clyde could be considered a vintage Xbox Live Arcade game these days. Launched in 2006, we thought it well worthy of 8/10. Our Cloning Clyde review explains why.

Tis a quality game. But that (and many other older titles) shouldve been put into some kinda of 'XBLA classics' zone in much the same way retail games do.

Its easily worth 800 pts.. but... its 2- 3 years old ...

That's actually a good idea, if for anything else it'd be a way for ppl to take a look at them.

All marketplace content should half its price after 6 months or a year. Should be mandatory.

But then no-one would buy the games, instead waiting until the inevitable drop...

Cloning Clyde was a very good game at the time but it was waaay to easy for the average gamer. It was funny and relaxing though but you could say that about A Kingdom for Keflings and Band of Bugs too. Ninja Bee is very good at what they do and Live Arcade needs a few easy relaxing games.

"Cloning Clyde was a very good game at the time but it was waaay to easy for the average gamer."

The core gameplay was pretty easy, but the longevity and slightly more tricky elements were in finding and reaching the collectables.

Got a lot of playtime from Cloning Clyde and I really must get round to picking up Splosion Man.

Will definitely be buying a Clyde sequel though, nice balance of platforming and Lemmingsness.

NinjaBee are amongst my favourite indie developers. Every title they've released on XBLA has been great. They're simple, accessible games that are easy to pick up and play but also offer a nice amount of depth.
