I must say i'm disapointed, i for one thoughly enjoyed Heavenly Sword and was hoping for a sequal in the near future.

As for the CG film acompaniment to a game. The idea leaves me confused, surely the only real reason to do this is that you couldn't fully express your story in the game, so had to put together a 90 fmv sequence to flesh it out.

Actually, the decision not to develop Heavenly Sword 2 was Ninja Theory's - I'm sure you WILL come up with your own conspiracy theories as to why that might be.... :D

Nuts. I was hoping this was one of those 'bugger it up a bit first time round- nail their arses with the sequel' kind of things.

A real shame, loved heavenly sword, maybe the new IP will be along the same lines and the change in IP is to allow them to release it on 360 too.

heavenly sword was awesome.... for an afternoon..
beyond that you have a beautifully acted/looking thing that had almost zero replay value..

its a shame there isnt gonna be a sequel because kai is one of the best creations the medium has ever given us.

shame really hs was flawed but fun, a sequal could have remedied all that was wrong and could have been class.

So much for having set up Heavenly Sword as a trilogy... probably a good idea to give the first (only) part a proper ending then.

As for the next game, all that talk about cinematic touch and a CG movie on the side doesn't fill me with optimism that there will actually be much of a game in the end.. not that Heavenly Sword was that long anyway.

Heavenly Sword was a steaming heap of a game. Pretty cutscenes but utterly devoid of any kind of gameplay.

They should be developing a sequel to the awesome Kungfu Chaos instead of pissing their talent away on CGI.

Sony's motto of 'style over substance' has corrupted them. We dont want vaguely interactive movies, we want proper games.

No, he formed his own dev company Mistwalker and created Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey for the 360

Don't Sony own the ip for this, so how was the decision Ninja Theory's to make? I thought you guys were in the same situation that Monolith found themselves in i.e. not able to use their game name because they'd originally sold the rights to the publisher.

Please enlighten us all.

We got offered the chance to do the sequel, we said "thanks, but no thanks" and have gone on to work on something else.

Fair enough mate. Company I'm at did the same thing a few months back. The cheek of it was they made it sound like they were doing us a favour offering us a chance to do a sequel to our own creation!

Such a shite game. I gave it all the time i could, but in the end got really frustrated with the frame rate, tearing, and lack of genuine gameplay.

I'm amazed when people say this, especially as the DMC series is hailed as something great. HS was loads better than any of the DMC games IMO, and it didn't have an annoying twat as a lead character either.

No HS sequel, boo :-(

So are NT going to be working on a graphics engine which doesn't tear like a wet tissue in a wind tunnel, then?

Couldn't quite believe how bad it was, even on SD!

@peonic (and whoever else works for Ninja Theory; "come out of the developer's closet" night it seems :)

I just wanted to say that Kung Fu Chaos was great, total chaotic fun. I haven't played Heavenly Sword and that's only because I don't own a PS3, otherwise I'd be really tempted. I'm glad to hear that your new project is on the x360 as well.

Good luck with it!!!

@peonic - I know you're from Ninja Theory. ;-) Let the fools who don't believe that continue with their petty rambles.

So Sony own the I.P and have their own internal development studios (Liverpool, London, Cambridge... aren't Ninja Theory based in Cambridge? I wonder what Sony could possibly decide to do with the I.P. they own, a finished games engine and a complete tool set (level building ,etc.)? God forbid that they make the sequel!? The shock of it all !! Yikes! Will they make a better game? It will be an interesting story, that is for sure.

I doubt HS2 will be given to another developer for some time. I suspect they'd let the dust settle for quite some time before using its name again... As for one of their internal studios doing it. TBH I'm not sure they have the artistic talent (in sufficient numbers).

if I remember well, Sony studios lent plenty of artists to Ninja Theory to finish the game... they have plenty of skilled artists. But anywhere else, it's mostly about good art directors.
