Ninja Gaiden II pre-orders get treats

Elaborate and fiendish Ryu armour.

Microsoft will be treating those pre-ordering Ninja Gaiden II to a fancy Ryu costume.

It's a rather elaborate set of armour that makes your character look a little like the fiends you're chopping up, and the first 39,000 people to pick up your ordered copies from select retailers will get it. More information on who those "select" shops will be is expected soon.

However, anyone who misses out will be able to download a trio of costume packs in July from Xbox Live Marketplace, priced at 200 Microsoft Points (GBP 1.70 / EUR 2.40) each.

Ninja Gaiden II is due for release in Europe on 6th June, and has plenty of gore as well as a more approachable entry-point for newcomers, although there are four difficulties to master so old-hands are far from being deserted. Gaiden II also lets you record and upload your footage to Xbox Live.

Pop over to our still warm hands-on with Ninja Gaiden II to find out more.

This game didn't get a very good preview write up in Edge. Camera problems aplenty apparently.
  • alimokrane #2 4 years ago

Shuv the up your bum MS ..... 200MP for a freaking costume ??? Are you freaking kidding me ???
  • Gnort #3 4 years ago

3 costume packs at 200 MS points each? Seems a touch excessive. At least they aren't holding important content back from the game, like levels or weapons.
  • Psychotext #4 4 years ago

@moggsy: Edge said the first game had tons of camera problems too... didn't stop it being superb though.

    Costumes 4 Rachel plx.
  • Deoden #7 4 years ago

Am I the only one who thought it was going to be an actual costume for the player to dress up in after reading the headline?
  • muscleblade #8 4 years ago

I didnt have any problems with the camera in Ninja Gaiden, so im sure i dont gonne have any problems in Ninja Gaiden 2 either.
  • lambtron #9 4 years ago

Frankly, fuck Edge and fuck whining about cameras.

I have a friend who refuses to play Ico "because of the camera".
  • Pac #10 4 years ago

    @lambtron +1

They were only testing a preview version anyway.

And they said if the rest of the dev time was spent working on it it could be OK.

As long as it is no worse than the first NG should be OK
  • iago71 #11 4 years ago

    @Deoden.

I thought the same from the headline initially!

Also, does anyone know if were getting the Japanese audio with english subs option like in the 1st game? Watching those cut scenes with horrendous US voice acting just seems plain wrong - or maybe Im just anal !
  • Negotiator #12 4 years ago

Well put me down for 2, a diddly doo baby boo.
  • Negotiator #13 4 years ago

"or maybe Im just anal !"

    All signs point to yes.
  • Dark_Stranger #14 4 years ago

wow, just noticed the release date - less than a month to go.
  • Negotiator #15 4 years ago

"wow, just noticed the release date - less than a month to go."

Well give the man a hand.
  • berelain #16 4 years ago

Bah, stupid Edge. They seem to really leap on some games over really menial things sometimes.

I'm not sure how good the camera will be in NG2, but it seems ok from the gamplay footage I've seen so far; certainly nothing game-breakingly bad about it.

Now, these costume packs on the other hand... they better be some damn nice costumes to be worth £1.50.
  • MrXBob #17 4 years ago

Negotiator, why do you feel the need to reply to every comment you see with a sarcastic comment?

You just look like a pompous prick.

Anyway, Ninja Gaiden 2 can't be a bad game. I mean it's literally an impossibility. And from what I've seen, the camera is almost identical to the original game, which is absolutely fine by me and millions of other people who didnt complain.

Hmm, on second thought, NO costumes 4 Rachel, at all :)

LMAO! How is having a bad camera menial!
  • MrXBob #20 4 years ago

asphaltcowboy, its menial in this case because Ninja Gaiden doesnt have a bad camera.

I'm not saying this is how it went down at Edge, but to be honest - all the people I know who say the camera is rubbish are the same people who could never beat the first boss. There's a huge difference between a game having a bad camera and the user blaming the camera for their lack of skills.

Why thank you, and you have a pig face.
  • Feanor #22 4 years ago

EG has a more recent preview than Edge's that made the camera sound fine.
  • miiiguel #23 4 years ago

I need to know which stores are these! Pleeeeease! I pre-ordered @ Amazon.uk and I'm almost sure it wont be one of those...
  • penhalion #24 4 years ago

I'll look out for the pre-order armour but, I'm not payig a cent for the additional costumes. For one thing they will make zero difference to the gameplay and I'm not so fussy that I need to have anything other than a basic black ninja costume in order to save the world. This isn't "Queer eye for the Ninja guy" after all!
  • berelain #25 4 years ago

    @ Asphalt Cowboy

I wasn't necessarily referring to the Ninja Gaiden camera thing. Just the general gist of a lot of Edge's reviews / previews.

But the camera in NG, indeed, was never that bad.
  • muscleblade #26 4 years ago

    @Miguel

Take it easy man its only 200 points ( and only a worthless costume anyway ) - your not missing out on anything.

hopefully it works like the virtua fighter 5 item packs where if more than one of you owns the game, you all chip in and copy the item pack data via a memory card to each system. was pleasantly surprised when it worked, and didn't feel the slightest bit bad about it as it was content we shouldn't be charged for in the first place, as is this by the sounds of it. although i will be keeping an eye out on which stores are getting this offer, hopefully gameplay is one of them as my pre-order is already in there, £32.99-bargain!

oh and i'm in agreement with everyone who finds no problem with the camera, if it is the same as the first game then i see no fault. i mean one button press and it is directly behind you.

muscleblade, yeah, I know... It's just that I was kinda pissed after paying 78 pounds for GTA4 special edition and some guys bought the normal one and were rewarded with 1K MS points.

Anyway, I bought the costumes (read hats and halos) for Kingdom Under Fire, so yeah..., tbh I'm not realy worried. lol.

Well, I didn't think it was that good. And please, it's 'asphaltcowboy' ;)
