NiGHTS linked with Weather chan

See your clouds in-game.

SEGA Japan has revealed that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams will be linked to the Wii Weather Channel.

That means when it is miserable and grey outside it will also be miserable and grey in-game, specifically in the "A-Life" mode that lets you cross-breed creatures and create your own sandbox adventures.

Apparently the critters will also change their behaviour depending on what time of day it is, what the weather is up to and what season you are in. There's nothing like escaping reality.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is an adventure that sits somewhere between action and racing, as you fly through dreamscapes as the jester-suit-wearing NiGHTS, battling Nightmaren creatures as you attempt help two young children rid themselves of bad dreams.

Tom had a chance to play with it at the Tokyo Game Show in September and was thoroughly excited, calling it "quite enchanting, beautifully realised and delicately scored".

Hopefully the full game will live up to its promise when it is released exclusively on Wii early next year.

I like the idea, but as someone who only really gets to play games in the evening, I'd be concerned that it'd always be night time in-game when I play.

Presumably they will have to make it optional because there'll be plenty of people who aren't connected to the internet at all, so I hope there's an option to turn off all this day-time / night-time nonsense too.

killerbee - that's what i was thinking. don't want to play in night all the time!!

This would be great - except my region doesn't even exist on the Weather Channel.

I live in the Channel Islands and unless I want everything written in French (which would be more accurate weather) I have to select Southampton. :(

/changes weather channel location to Sydney.

Oh well, as I have a US Wii mine will be set by what the weather is doing in New York (i.e. either roast or freeze).

What a fucking awful idea. The weather stinks up here!

hey kids, dont go outside to play in the sun on the UK's annual 1 day of sunshine, play Nights for that once in a year chance of real in game sun - no suntan lotion required and no chance of burning your eyes from seeing overweight women wearing too little.

    ;)

The day/night cycle is what I wouold have issue with, for the same reason as has already been mentioned here. Generally speaking I prefer playing in daylight environments.

Just what we want - to escape the grey and mundane world into a fantasy where it's always cheerful and sunny.

    Oh. Wait.

I suspect it will be optional and if not change the region or just disconnect the Wii from the internet entirely if it really bothers you.

It would be nice if they included date based things like Christmas Nights did as well
