Next Tomb Raider film to star new Lara
"It's not full-on action, it's like Terminator."
Dan Lin, the producer of Terminator Salvation and the forthcoming Tomb Raider film, has been discussing his plans for Lara's next big screen adventure.
"It's a great origin story that we're going to tell - very character-oriented, more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies," Lin told About.com.
"It's not full-on action. It's like Terminator, it's character-driven action," he said. "For me, the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I want it to have action, but with character."
According to Lin, it's all about "rebooting" the franchise - and that means bringing in a new actress to play Lara. No one's been cast yet, but Lin confirmed, "It is an origin story, so it is a younger Lara Croft." We vote for Tracy Beaker.

As long as they cover up the scribble she has all over her....though perhaps they could make them mysterious ancient runes!
Anyway....

Dear God - she can barely string together enough words to form a complete sentence.
I reckon Rachel Weisz would be a good fit if it is less action oriented.

Not that any of these things will make a good Tomb Raider movie...

They're fucking platform puzzle games, and always have been! Oh dear. It might work so long as they don't cast bloody Keira Knightley.
I reckon the problem with the Tomb raider movies they made was they took themselves too seriously. In the successful movie franchises they were trying to ape - Indy and Bond - there's a level of knockabout humour that Angelina and co were lacking, despite their obvious intentions by casting Chris Barrie.

Rachel Weisz is in her late 30s. By the time the film came out, she'd be 40+. Did you miss the part where they said they wanted a younger Lara?

If I never see her in anything again, it'll be too soon. She cannot fucking act for toffee and never could.
She was playing, effectively, Lara Croft in Easter's Doctor Who, and she was appalling. I'd rather have Megan Fox.Hell, I'd actually rather have Knightley.

It's as bad as people starting sentences with "Do you know what?" all the time.

I'd been wondering if a future Tomb Raider would go with the game voice actress. However, the bulky shapelessness of her 80s fashions in Ashes to Ashes suggest she might not be in fighting shape for an action movie.
Besides, since, she's pretty much the same age as Angelina Jolie, which would rule her out of this movie.

- It's a prequel
- It's based on a video game
- It's as 'character driven' as The Terminator
I'm not watching it! NEVER!
