Next-gen Indy game still on track News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Ellie Gibson

9 June, 2008

LucasArts has confirmed the Indiana Jones game in development for PS3 and Xbox 360 is still in development, despite the recent lay off of up to 100 staff.

Speaking to Joystiq, the company said there are "no plans to outsource [the game's] development to an external studio".

The title was first unveiled at E3 2006, where an impressive tech demo showed how it'll make use of NaturalMotion's Euphoria animation engine. Read Kristan's full report for more details. Back then the game had a working title of Indiana Jones 2007, but that's since changed for obvious reasons - and there's still no word of an official release date.

Can we get over this "next gen" Business please.... If its on the PC / 360 / PS3 surely to god its Current Gen?

Or do they mean they are making it for the PS4 and Xbox whatever?

Saying there are no plans to out-source it does not necessarily mean it's still being worked on in-house, does it? They still could've canned it entirely.

Maybe I should read the whole article though, it's just that this EG piece itself doesn't really make any sense.

Well, good. Indy game with Euphoria was a forward-thinking idea for Lucasarts back when they announced it, at least, since we know how well it panned out when it was used in GTAIV.

Still, my distrust of lucasarts products these days knows no bounds, so I can only get mildly excited.

A crying shame, for a company whose games I would have once bought just for saying 'LucasArts' on the box.

Last 2 indy games have been cool.

Lego Indy
Indy And The Emperors Tomb (by the collective was it?)

So i have high hopes for this, especially when it was announced to be running the same tech as the new star wars game.

Potentially awesome.

Film was cool to.

I think most of the Indiana games I've played so far have been excellent. The Last Crusade and, especially, The Fate of Atlantis were superb point 'n' click adventure games on the Amiga, The Emperor's Tomb was a flawed gem on the Xbox and LEGO Indiana Jones is the best LEGO game to date. I, for one, have high expectations for this new game with a past history like that! 8)

According to Shack News, these are not the last of the lay-offs. Sounds like Lucasarts is being groomed for an EA takeover...

Oh, and the Ex-Lucasarts employee Facebook group makes for interesting reading... The gaul of some companies how they get rid of employees! It's horrific...
