Rainbow Six Vegas patched

Auto update on XBL now.

Ubisoft's first patch for its squad-based tactical shooter on the Xbox 360 has been released today.

The auto-update focuses mainly on fixing bugs in the multiplayer game; improving overall stability, Xbox Live Vision support, and voice-communication implementation. There's a minor fix to the 'infiltration specialist achievement', phew, and single-player voice recognition should now work properly.

Ubisoft is also keen to point out that this patch, based mainly on players' feedback, was already in development a few weeks ago. Unfortunately this means that some of the more recently discovered problems haven't been addressed yet, but the team knows about them and is planning to fix them.

For the full list of changes, head over to the Ubisoft forum for the game.

    Thank feck for that.

A game with 3 other EGers was buggy as hell. I just hope they fixed the thing where it sounds as if someone is endlessly firing their gun.

Oh and the thing where it crashes my xbox.

The endless gun firing has not been addressed, I was still getting it last night, although slightly less frequently. They do seem to have sorted out the stability issues though, I didn't see one hang last night in a good 3+hrs of play.

I hope they addres the issue where you can't create a custom character if you don't have XBL

    Hooray for the Patchbox!

Yes, that's exactly why he said it.

Aye, we're not referring to the 'patchstation 3' just yet :]

Why is it so hard to find threads that aren't infected with fanboyism?

That would be in Sep 2007 :)

Anyway.. I had some serious online probs with this game, so hopefully I will play it more online now. Offline is good fun, but after GoW a bit "plain".

All the new consoles are patchboxes tbh.

Personally, I'm still trying to fathom out why people are complaining about patches. With the advent of online multiplayer console games it means that no matter how much time a developer is given to iron out bugs some will still be found by the community at large. It's been the same on the PC for years and no-one complains (bar the patches for battlefield series, which are bloody shocking, IMO).

Moral of the story: it's the way things are if we want online console games.

Edit: Also, I think patching the OS of a console can be a good thing aswell, look at the extra stuff MS have added with their updates - it ain't half bad.

    "Hooray for the Patchbox! "

    Compared to??

The Wii has to patch at initial power up, the PS3 is getting a stream of patches and has mmaaaaaaaaaannnyyyyyyyyy more to come if its to gain any ground whatsoever on the 360.

Its just the way it is now. No one is worse than any other.

"All the new consoles are patchboxes tbh"

Or in the case of the Wii - a cord upgrade.

As a programmer may I say that there is no such thing as bugs. They are just undocummented features.

Cue the whole patches are good/patches are evil debate.

    YAWN

Aah, I remeber the good old days of "the XBox hard drive is not meant for patches". Seems like an eternity ago.
  • bloodflowers #15 5 years ago

The patch doesn't actually fix all the voice problems - they're still there, just not as frequent.

Yep despite those niggles it's gotta be game of the year for me! Way above Gears Of War! :p

I don't mind patches/updates when they improve or add things, it's just when they for example, cause Dead Rising to tear continuously via VGA (fall update) and then you're left 6 months waiting for the next update which may or may not fix the problem back.

I'd prefer it if games were released finished in the first place.
