So FIFA categorically is a next-gen exclusive for 12 months, and PES is at least within Europe, but may turn up in Japan by the turn of the year

No there bloody isn't, MS did not PAY Konami to not develop on the PS3 for 12 months, PES6 not going to the PS3 was a formality because the console wouldn't be available in October.

But now the the "exclusive" term for PES would be... "Next gen European 2006 Exclusive" that's not even worth promoting.

It is refering to the current gen systems as it is a multi platofrm release, MS always said it was merely a Next Gen exclusive and only for 12 months.
Takatsuka says there might be a release ready for spring (optimisticly), he's the producer and thus not in charge of release dates.
The 12 month exclusive statement came from Konami head of product mangement. Wich would simply mean the PS3 version is getting a few months more dev time. And since this was anounced at a Euro convention is probably just refering to the Euro release anyway wich always gets released later.

And ofcourse that is worth promoting in Europe since the avarge consumer is not going to import Winning Eleven, only the Euro release date matters to them.

By the sound of things it was Konami who are at fault not MS. There's a quote doing the rounds from the Europe office which backs the Leipzig announcement. Sounds like someone at Konami made the deal without telling everybody involved.

So if PS3 is region-free and PES6 is released at least in Japan, every footie fan can just place their order at ****asia.com? Whatever.

Where is the time warp machine when you need it? Gaming world needs to jump to the end of October, now and stop bickering...

The MS fanboys reaction is laughable. EA decided not to release FIFA'07, because they want to avoid the same kind of flop they got with the '06 game on the X360 last year. MS pays to make sure they don't change their mind. Fair enough.

My only doubt in this: Konami just won't be releasing PES on the PS3 before early 2007. Are Konami disrespecting any agreement with MS? Was there any in the first place?

Or maybe, as it seems to be hard to accept to some people, Microsoft can lie at least as much as Sony. The way they're already twisting the truth about third party support is just a taste of things to come :-).

I think it's just the reporting thats wrong. Im pretty sure (although not 100% sure) that they said it's exclusive to the 360 for the rest of the year (i.e. the rest of 2006)

Which is still correct.

You say that it's a point blank lie and everybody who doesn't agree is an MS fanboy

While it does sound like a lie to me, I don't say everybody who doesn't agree is an MS fanboy. Point that exact statement to me.

I do mean by my first statement that fanboys were rejoicing the exclusivity as if they were actually gaining anything from it, and after a reaction from Konami that sheds doubt on this precious exclusivity, they all jump shouting: "But it is! But it is!". This is what I meant by laughable...

I'm also curious about what will be Konami's final word on this. One of the three is clearly misinforming people: MS, Konami, or the press.

Steroyd, I think you're jumping to conclusions, unless you are privvy to some inside information. Microsoft have said categorically that it's 12 months next-gen exclusive in Europe. Konami would not tie their hands for free, and they have not denied this statement yet. We are waiting for an official statement from Konami.

like i've stated before even if MS didn't approach them with money (which i dounbt they have done in the first place).

Pro Evo 6 wouldn't have gone on the PS3 this year anyway just like how PES5 didn't make it to the Xbox 360 for 12 months.

In effect that would mean MS wasted their money on a formality which i doubt even MS are stupid enough for.

Just being cynical - but its "FIFA 2007" which is an exlcusive to X360 as I read it ... as such another FIFA game, say 'FIFA - Road to the Champions League" or something similar could easily pop-up on PS-3 if the console sales were high.

Microsoft are undoubtably aware of this - they just want the general public to think of the game as exclusive and increase the chances of little Joe picking up a 360 instread of a PS-3 at xmas ...

What seems to have been forgotten is that Konami make these deals all the time. Just look at MGS4. That isn't only appearing on PS3 but, you wouldn't know it from the year exclusive deal they have with sony.

I think in this instance Konami have put their foot in their mouth. If I were looking to the 360 to make me profitable I wouldn't be on a high horse trying to make Microsoft look bad over a semantic misunderstanding. Maybe they just forgot that like Sony, Microsoft decide what games get released on their consoles.

Sometimes I just feel like being a right bast. and if I were microsoft right now, I'd suddenly have trouble passing PES through quality control for oh I don't know...the next year!

Not Konami's fault. Microsoft got it wrong. Or keeps getting it wrong. Hmm ... I wonder for how long they'll keep that going.
As for FIFA that's no exclusive either - depending on what source you refer to. Definately not outside Europe, though.

The first comment was a tongue in cheek comment regarding the Achievements on the Xbox 360 and the constant hunt for them. In case you didn't know there used to be a guy here called BGIE, he created a folder and printed out the achievements he 'achieved' and put them in that folder. I assumed he was pulling a fast one but it seems like he wasn't.

The comment also reflects on the manner in which you respond to news on here, anything that might be construed as a good thing for fans of a console must be bad for fans of another console. Apparently.

The asshole remark is obviously in response to the comment you wrote right after that. You seem to take offense at people being game developers. Game developers are fans of games, after all we've taken up game development as a job. We must enjoy them.

Sony made no deal with Konami about MGS4.

This is what i hate just because it's a third party is making an exclusive for said console doesn't automatically mean the Hardware vendor threw a wad of cash at them.

MGS4 could easily just pop up on the Xbox 360 if Konami wanted to in the exact same manner that Dead Rising could pop up on the PS3 if Capcom feel like it.

I never understood the fixation with the "brand rooting". This "brand rooting" was invented by the Japanese, and grown people swalloed it.

i.e.: Every major soccer team in Japan is own by companies (yes, Sony also has one), true laboratories of "brand rooting", and I found it most odd how well they exported this "thing".

HERE ARE THE FACTS:

FIFA 2007 is only going to be released for the Xbox 360. FIFA 2007 will be released for the Xbox 360 in September of 2006, and it will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 for 12-months worldwide, until FIFA 2008 is released for both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in September of 2007.

As far as Konami's Soccer game goes, it has TWO different names, because the two games actually are slightly different. Pro Evolution Soccer will be released ONLY for the Xbox 360 in Europe, and it will be exclusive there for a period of 12-months, until the next years version is released for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3.

Konami calls their Soccer game Winning Eleven in other parts of the world, and as soon as it is completed, the game can be released in any part of the world, EXCEPT FOR EUROPE!!! The Xbox 360 version will still be completed first for the American and Japanese markets, though.

Now if anyone is still confused if pes6 is going to be on ps3, from the mouth off Aki Saito Konami Europe’s Senior Manager:

Aki Saito: Sorry, but I have to say one thing about the Microsoft presentation. The presentation was misleading. We never said exclusive for one year for the next generation. We said this year. We were agreed that it was this year.

Q: So up until January 1?

Saito: Yes. In a sense. If we’re going to release PES 7 next year during this time, yes it may be one year. But we never agreed that we were going to say that officially. It was kind of misleading and a misunderstanding. What we meant or agreed with Microsoft was this winter or this season for PES 6 – this is exclusive.

And more from the same interview from Seabass.

Q: Can I just expand on that. At E3 when we talked a PS3 version wasn’t even started. Has it started production, and as you said just now does it mean that theoretically we could have Winning Eleven 10 or PES 6 next spring on PS3?

Seabass: That’s no doubt. We already started, and I said in that interview I think that how we work as fair is that we don’t work on one console anymore. We work on the core and then we spread it out – we have this mentality.

So for next year, if the market is there. If the PS3 doesn’t ship this year, and there’s no users, there’s no meaning for us to present PS3. As long as we hear the users voice, and everyone wants it we will consider it. I already am considering that, and probably PS3 will be released, they’ll be good followers and fans. If it’s up to us, we’re going to deliver it.

So Microsoft was misleading customers, end off story.

GAME OVER

The Xbox 360 is the fastest selling system ever in 40 of the 41 countries it has been released in. The Xbox 360 completely dominated the August, 2006, European Game Convention in Leipzig, Germany. Especially with the announcement that the Xbox 360 will be the ONLY place where European gamers will be able to play a next-generation Soccer game for TWELVE MONTHS that runs in high-definition video with true 5.1 digital sound!!!

The fact that Sony is going to miss the Christmas season in Europe is INCREDIBLE!!! Sony JUST DROPPED THE BALL; they JUST LOST!!!

By the way, Sony knew this was going to happen, because there were Japanese analysts saying this all along. YET ANOTHER SONY LIE!!!

Mitsubishi Securities recently announced that the Playstation 3 would only sell 3 million systems by March of 2007, due to production problems. The fact that Sony is STUPID enough to try and lie again, by saying that they will still reach their goal of 6 million by March of 2007, even though the system won't be released until then in Europe, and the distribution to North America and Japan has been reduced by 50% is just plain STUPID... How STUPID does Sony think people are???

We also learned that High-Definition cables will NOT be included in ANY version of the Playstation 3!!! The Xbox 360 Premium comes with a set of cables that can be used as both High-Definition Cables and standard-definition cables. This means that consumers will need to spend ANOTHER $40 for a set of PS3 Component Cables or another $99 for an HDMI cable. The Playstation 3 will actually cost consumers up to $700!!! MY GOD, the Playstation 3 is TERRIBLE!!!

TWO THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CHEAP Ebay Cables:

1. Ebay Cables may appear cheap at first, but if you look at the Shipping Cost, you will see that something that should cost about $3 is suddenly listed with a HUGE shipping cost of over $35. In other words, they make you think you did a good job bidding or purchasing the product, but they make ALL their money on the HUGE Shipping Costs!!!

2. Ebay Cables that are cheap like that are VERY low quality!!!

JAPANESE RELAUNCH FOR XBOX 360

There was just an announcement that says that Microsoft has now decided to sell the Core system in Japan. Previously, only the Premium was available in Japan, and it sold for about $365. The Core system will now be sold in Japan for only $249, and it will include TWO FREE GAMES. The games that will be included are the awesome Project Gotham Racing 3, and the game that Japanese gamers looked forward to a lot--Ninety Nine Nights!

At the Tokyo Game Show, I bet that Microsoft will also announce a similar deal for the Premium Xbox 360 system in Japan.

Everybody knew all along that the Xbox 360 would be the number one selling system worldwide; it has been released in 41 countries, and it is the fastest selling system ever in 40 of them. Japan is the only country where the Xbox 360 wasn't selling well in. Worldwide the Xbox 360 has achieved all of its sales goals, and it is currently on track to achieve its sales goal of 10 million systems sold by the end of the year, as well as 15 million systems sold by June of 2007.

According to Mitsubishi Securities, the Playstation 3 is now only going to sell 3 million systems by March of 2007. The fact that Sony will only be shipping 100,000 Playstation 3 systems in Japan this year means that BY DEFAULT the Xbox 360 will have sold more systems than the Playstation 3 in Japan by the end of 2006!

The Tokyo Game Show will be VERY interesting! The Relaunch of the Xbox 360 in Japan is going to be VERY interesting! The Microsoft X06 Trade Show will also be something VERY special!!!
