I tottaly agree with Rhythm on the whole single player thing, however, my Bunjie fanboi mates assure me its because they are keeping it all hush hush, and it will be worth waiting for.

Time will tell.

Heathen! No biscuits allowed. Use Jaffa cakes instead.

Yeah, a bone would be nice.

Or a half eaten leg of Zebra. ANYTHING.

Well, they have in a way.

So far we know:

1: There is another Halo involved.
2: With Flood (Call it a hunch, but I think they'll be on Halo ONLY)
3: The fight is taken to the covenants homeworld

Given that in the books the original plan of the Spartans was to capture the leaders of the Covenant... Leads to some nice thoughts. Also, MC isn't the only surviving Spartan. IIRC there's at least 3 others...

>I don't mind them not spoiling the plot, but can't they at least throw us a frickin' bone?

Read the last Halo book and you know more or less how the game will start and what is going to happen (in the first half)

Basically MC (and some other Spartans. YES!) arrives on Earth just as the Covenant are laying siege to the planet. Of course there is a lot of mystery as well. What about the Halos? What about the Forerunners? Guilty Spark?

We also know of course there will be fighting on other planets in the solar system (Mars/Moon...)

I think there are a few hints in Frankie's Bungie updates, although the interesting bits are always censored - there's been mention of new characters and enemies, but never anything revealing.

For an extra £10 I'll get a "behind the scenes" DVD that I'll actually watch.

Saying that when I ordered mine about 3 months ago it was £36 at gameplay. Now £45 there. Ouch.

Sorry, it wasn't really details of the plot that i was looking for. HALO was known for its fresh look at the single player FPS and clever streamlining of the genre, 2 weapons, rechargable energy bar, simple but effective stealth etc.

I want to know what gamplay innovations the single-player version of Halo 2 will have, if any.

Running (Not new by any stretch of the imagination)

Another shameless promotion for your retail partner, masquerading as a news story. C'mon guys, have you *no* shame? This is the kind of brazen cross -promotional huckstery (is that a word?) that goes on all the time in the Murdoch press.

Nope, my headgear is definitely on this morning and very shiny it is too.
I just have a problem with an article in the 'news' section that is an obvious plug for a specific retailer.
If this is a message from a sponsor, label it such. After all, other sites have been taking pre-orders for ages.
As someone who works in that there interweb retail business, I think this is bad practise, but maybe I'm just an over serious arse.

As far as I'm concerned, this website (that I enjoy a great deal) is free. If I can help it to stay that way by using their retail partner to buy games when I can, then that's fine by me ;-)

Enough of that, back to the Halo 2 goodness.

then I wouldn't be the biggest loser, which is a good thing?
Oh, and you can keep the tin, though I'd quite like the game (and maybe even the extra content as there's nothing quite as exciting as a bunch of developers discussing their diet coke and pizza intake)

Sorry, didn't read all Mr Lamma's early posts and understand the gentle ironic undertones.
BTW, unless I'm really being obtuse, there's no extra gameplay involved in the ltd edition so my advice is buy the regular, and wait for all the extra content to appear on cover discs a few months later.
No tin of course, but you can always make your own.

Well, not bad advice. However:

I never purchase mags. Why pay £6 for stuff that's free on the net?
Halo, + £6 for that mag is only £4 short of the LE version... and I doubt the whole of the LE version will be available on cover-mounted disks as it'd ruin the whole reason behind the LE version, which I don't think Bungie will do...

Besides... IT'S THE LE VERSION!!! :D

And you can resell on eBay. :)

Lutz,
You're right -if you must have the extra content it only makes sense to wait if you'd buy the mag anyway.
Re Limited Edition status, in my experience this either means:-
a) 'we are going to limit it to the number of orders we get' hence no collectable value
b) ' we are going to make it so limited, any retailer who isn't Game will get exactly two copies' so I'd place orders across all retailers to ensure a copy.

Insightful commentary on the gaming world? Witty reparté? I know I know. Theres sod all of that in most of the gaming press anyway. Still, I'm glad I have my subscription to Edge.
