Coke flavoured WipEout Pure downloads up for grabs News

PSP News by Kristan Reed

10 August, 2005

From August 11th, WipEout Pure owners will be able to engage in a curious piece of Coca-Cola-related product placement by grabbing some free downloadable content for the PSP-only game from the Cokestyle website.

Several downloads will be made available for the PSP-only title, apparently adding various Coke-themed vehicles and assorted items to the game. It is, they say, a "cool way to play".

Obviously, due to our inability to resist unsubtle advertising tactics by giant corporations, we'll be nipping off to our local store shortly after downloading the new content to guzzle as much of the stuff as we can fit down our thirsty throats.

We apologise for any Coke-related break in service. We cannot be held responsible for any corresponding surge in demand or local shortages if you download it yourselves.

WipEout Pure is released in Europe on September 1st.

Why do Coke continue to advertise? Surely they've transcended that now, kinda like Ferrari.

I wonder if the PSP version of Wipeout will still have Red Bull banners in it...

Bitkari you seem to mistake conversion with sequel. WipeOut Pure is the latter, only WipeOut 2097 had Red Bull banners in it.

Anyway - a free new track ist always welcome. If you dislike the many coke banners, skip this one, as simple as that. I'll surely install it if they make a euro-version of this. In fact, i will install any track i can get hold of... :D

Branding, aka brainwashing.
Like McDonalds, they don't want us to forget about them and to conciously stay in our minds. Also, keeps the value of thier brands high.

Meh, I don't have enough room for the lastest Classic pack on my 32Mb memory stick anyway. And the game crashed on me in the middle of the Vector Descension tournament after I downloaded Gamma Pack 3....

Pepsi Max? Ugh. That's disgusting. I can't understand how people can drink those sugar-free sodas. They all taste so weird.

McDonald's brand value has been always in a rather low position, and even more since 'SuperSize Me', if you ask me...
