Headset planned for SOCOM PSP? News

PSP News by Tom Bramwell

31 October, 2005

Observant types testing early builds of SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fire Team Bravo for PSP have noted a headset icon on the game's HUD, suggesting that we'll be able to buy a headset and partake in voice comms when the game's finally released.

Further to that, Kotaku's since produced a photograph of what looks like an official Sony PSP headset peripheral - two over-ear headphones with a microphone extending from the left.

As fans of the PS2 series know, voice comms plays a big role in Zipper Interactive's tactical military strategy-'em-up, so it's hardly implausible. We already know Sony's quite happy to meddle in PSP peripherals, iterating the battery technology and including a microphone peripheral in forthcoming translator tool/game Talkman.

Sony Europe doesn't currently list a release date for SOCOM PSP, but the game's due out in the USA on November 8th.

Fantastic. But does anyone else think the silver headphones don't quite fit with the PSP's sleek black/white design?

It's a good design that adds function to fashionable looks. Shame the PSP didn't have Bluetooth though, maybe one for PSP2 eh!

SOCOM PSP - terrible lockon and cycle system to make up for a poor, jumpy analogue nub. Don't waste your time with it.

socom on psp is a quality game, graphics havnt used the full psp's power but they are still decent. Nothing wrong with the psp analogue either, anyone used to the analogues on home consoles will feel like its too different, but you soon get acustome to it, just like everyone did for the analogues on home consoles / pc's when they just came out. i like the analogue disc, gives a better response than anything you can get out of microsofts standard designs.

a headset for any online game would rock \m/ (*o*).
ive been using socom ftb online with my psp for 2 or 3 days now and i sooooo need a headset or keyboard for it. They probably not be out till feb / march time when the european socom FTB copy is released.
