Auto Assault official ringtone

Explosions for your phone.

Auto Assault is ever so nearly upon us - and I'm not talking about the bad kind prohibited on my antisocial behaviour order.

NCsoft and NetDevil's interesting-sounding vehicular MMOG is due for release simultaneously in Europe and the USA on April 13th and available to pre-order now - and in the spirit of getting you all excited about it, NCsoft's sent us an exclusive official ringtone for you to use on your mobile phone.

You can download it right now from Eurofiles. And what does it sound like? Explosions. That'll add humour to any social situation!

However, and we say this for a number of reasons not least of all the evil lawyer man standing next to me with a gun, you might not want to set the volume high and use it much on, I dunno, public transport. That might be a bad thing.

Not because it has any connotations or anything - more because loud ringtones are not what most travellers want to hear, and it's nice to be respectful of their needs.

Except when you all get home, obviously, at which point you can hop onto Auto Assault and shoot them in the face with an enormous cannon while laughing endlessly.

For more on Auto Assault, check out the official website, which also has a new mini-movie called "What is Auto Assault?" which probably contains subliminal messages encouraging you to buy it, so watch out.

We'll let you know if the game's any good when we get our wheels stuck into it next month.

it's just such a terrible, terrible game though.

and why the chuff do people have ringtones anyway? who are these tunes for? for you? if you want to listen to 3 seconds of a song, why not, i dunno, download it from itunes for about the same money and listen to it in tip-top quality on yer 'pod.

so they're for other people? to tip them off to the fact that you're really really cool because, uh, help me out here i'm struggling. you're cool with your kylie ringtone because you're able to own a phone and purchase pointless samples to annoy other people with? uh, no, that can't be right. you're cool with your star trek ringtone because, um, star trek is cool? no - dang. is it because liking star trek shows you have taste and distinction, and putting a noise from star trek on your phone sort of underlines this fact? can that possibly be right?

isn't it simpler to purchase a t-shirt that says "i am a twat, kick my ass"?

no wait - you're cool because you own an expensive phone, and that singles you out from the crowd. no wait, not really because now everyone has one of those really thin motorollas. even homeless people have nice mobiles now - it's true. i gave a quid to a homeless guy the other day before noticing that wasn't a cup of tea in his hand but a really nice frikkin phone.

you can buy them real cheap on ebay you know.

    cobblers.

How much money are the makers of this game paying Eurogamer? Seems to be just enough to merit a news story every week. Am I being too cynical?

jmctavish, it does seem odd we get a weekly "news" story about Auto Assault, which seems a pointless fluff piece to get more hits for the game.

The only way I would buy this would be to find that it came with the best looking woman in the world with no inhibitions, and even then I would not even bother playing it (the game that is, simply because its crap of the highest order and no matter how they try to make the turd shine, its still a turd).

Hmm, I suspect that itself is a subliminal message...

I beta tested Auto Assault and I gotta say, I found it pretty boring. I did like the car customisation though, although apart from that it didn't have much going for it. But then again, the only mmorpg I actually like is WOW, so I guess I suck.

My ringtone's the theme from Benny Hill, hence why I always have it on silent-vibrate. I hate ringtones. The game's still keeping my interest through the pre-order tho.
