Wii Sports boxed in Europe
Pack-in game gets its own case.
The PAL version of Nintendo Wii will ship with a boxed version of Wii Sports rather than a bare disc as it did in the US, we can confirm. And - yes - we can confirm that because Nintendo's finally gotten around to sending us its brand new console.
We're ripping through the games now and should have some thoughts on the key launch titles up for you soon, along with the usual array of photographs. (And don't tell Ellie, but we named Epona after her, which has had a rather worrying effect on the dialogue in Zelda.)
Another thing to note about the PAL Wii is that when it connects to the net and looks for an update patch, it claims the system's up to date, which ought to put your mind at ease if you've found yourself gripped with anxiety about reports of bricked consoles since the US launch.
Some more quick PAL Wii trivia then? Well, it's possible to make quite an impressive Kristan avatar (yellow shirt, ginger hair, eyes closed to the truth etc.), and Wii Sports tennis appears to be much more interesting than the novelty some had predicted. Watch out for more soon!

Come on guys, all patches are likely to be region-specific so just because there's nothing showing there yet for a Euro Wii doesn't mean there isn't anything that hasn't been fixed yet. I.E. the Yanks problem has been fixed for Yank Wii's but not for Euro Wii's ...

Sigh.. no you dont
Look, in canada it sells for $280, that 140 quid. But that's BEFORE tax, so add on 16% so 22 quid. So that's 162 quid.
So you're paying 8 quid more.
it's PERCEIVABLY cheaper in america due to the american dollar being screwed.

Another site is reporting that all of the European Virtual Console games will be 50Hz. Which sounds really shitty/lazy to me.
Thing is though, were our snes/Megadrive games really 17.5% slower?
Its putting me off getting one.
