Capcom sorts 360 text issue News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

29 November, 2006

Looks like Capcom's learned its lesson about text size in Xbox 360 games.

Earlier this year, there were howls - howls! - of disappointment as Dead Rising owners with standard TVs tried and failed to make sense of the tiny on-screen text.

But, following feedback on the recent Lost Planet multiplayer demo, the publisher's come out and said that it will amp up the text size if the final game detects that you're using a standard definition television set.

In the meantime, you can still enjoy the single and multiplayer demos available on Xbox Live if you, er, squint.

For more on the game, be sure to check out our extensive single-player impressions. It's due out on 12th January.

Shouldn't have been an issue in the first place and with Sony aiming for a higher res the text would only get smaller.

If I only had a SD TV for playing Dead Rising I would've bought a new telly because it's the best game ever. Fact.

Dead Rising on a SCART connection wasn't anywhere as bad as NTSC SD was.

Steroyd we know you love the PS3 but Lost planet is a 360 exclusive - you know the only console to have proper 3rd party exclusives?

Glad to hear they are sorting it out. It was a silly thing to do in the first place. I reeeaaally want to enjoy Dead Rising, but the bloody text size ruins it for me completely.

Dead Rising . . .

Terrible bosses,

annoying structure,

random difficulty level,

otherwise repetitive.

I like Dead Rising as much as the next guy (well, the next guy who likes Dead Rising a lot) but that doesn't blind me to the gigantic holes in its game design or the terrible boss design.

Capcom make Dead Rising, Capcom also make Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry PS3 Exclusive it also in high resolution.

Plus how long did it take for the Xbox 360 to have a "proper" third party exclusive 6-9 months. ;) ;)

Give it some time, level up your character and the bosses become a doddle. I would admit though that on subsequent playthroughs it can feel repetitive going through the same story line. I got addicted to it, then fell off the wagon...

@Steroyd - The 360 had a whole year of exclusives on the next gen front since it was the only next gen console about ;)

A game's not "exclusive" if it's available on another format - so any Xbox360 game that also appeared on PC or PS2/Xbox1 was NOT an exclusive.

"People who don't like Dead Rising = People bad at games"

/sigh

Its not a competition you know.

I loved many aspects of DR, but some parts of it are just plain broken.

That would have been true if the PS2 was dead....

I wish Capcom or Microsoft would fix back Dead Rising via VGA to the way it was before the fall update. It tears constantly now. Lost Planet multiplayer tears like a bugger as well.

Yeah wasn't hard to find faults quickly. Although i was never really bothered about the text, sure it was small but after i decided i hated the game i didnt bother with the story line.
And as for that "People who don't like Dead Rising = People bad at games." thing...try just used to playing games with competant controls and decent AI. I still got lvl 50 and as many acheivements as i could be bothered to get.

I'd be more impressed if you had cleared the game at a lower level. But like someone wise in this thread said, it's not a competition.

That was the one complaint I had with the multiplayer demo, the text. At least Capcom took note of the feedback from their last game and made this one playable on the majority of TVs.

I didnt mean it as a competition thing. i just meant i got 50 to say that people who dont like dead rising are good at games...
oh and i did finish most of it on a lower level. got to 50 by killing a tonne of special ops. BUT ANYWAY, back to to actual topic of the post? Lost Planet! fun IMO.
