Disgaea 2 announced
Complete with new characters.
Nippon-ichi Software is currently hard at work on a sequel to ace RPG Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, according to Dengeki PlayStation magazine.
Titled Makai Senki Disgaea 2, the game is set three years after the first instalment in the series and features all-new main characters. However, some of our old friends, including Etona and the Prinny penguins, will be back in supporting roles.
The hero is a 17 year old named Adel with ginger hair and a fiery temper who remains mysteriously unaffected by a strange curse, a curse which has turned everyone else in the world into devils.
It was cast by evil warlord Xenon 15 years ago, and now Adel has come of age he's taken it upon himself to bring Xenon down and return his family to their former human state.
Disgaea 2 uses the same gameplay systems as the first game, along with the congress and court systems. We're promised that there will be new stuff too though, naturally, including hexagonal instead of square cells.
Disgaea 2 is slated for a 2006 release in Japan. If you still haven't played the first game, read our review to find out why you should.

It is indeed a very nice tactics-RPG. 'Tis a shame it rewarded power leveling over strategy so much.
I still enjoy screaming "Prinny, dood!" while assaulting unsuspecting bystanders every now and then. Then I blow up.

I hope they stick with home consoles. Handhelds are rubbish.

Makai Wars is now a PS3 project, though, regardless of my (possible) trolling.
