WOW gets new patch

And Azeroth gets weather.

Blizzard has issued a new patch for World of Warcraft which will bring weather effects to Azeroth for the first time.

Well, certain areas of Azeroth, anyway - such as Elwynn Forest, Dun Morogh, Darkshor, Un'Goro Crater and Tanaris. But Blizzard "will be adding more weather to the world as time progresses," apparently.

Patch v1.10 also introduces new rare epic armour sets to dungeons, plus all-new bosses. Various items have been enhanced and some drop rates have been increased, too.

There's good news for level 60 players - from now on, any experience points you earn will be converted into gold, offering more incentive to complete quests.

Other changes include the option to select a final destination when dealing with Flight Masters, thereby eliminating the need to make stops along the way. You can expect all manner of balance tweaks, too - for the full rundown, visit the official World of Warcraft website.

Still, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick :)

I'm currently trying to resist joining the WoW masses.

It's official I have turned my back on WoW. Need time to play my other games... although I'm interested in what the weather looks like :-)

    Weather effects! I love that!

Too bad the game will still be boring as hell as soon as you reach level 40. No more incentive to continue, no more great carrots to motivate you to go on. Battlegrounds and such isn't my cup of tea.

@Reality_Cheque. You thinking of joining WoW? I'm thinking of leaving it :)

Want to start with a Lvl 60 Druid (With a very healthy set of armour and good rep)?

@Carlo: Although I'm thinking of joining, it won't be for a good few months at least - I want to play through GW:Factions first. I am dubious how much time I'd have to play it, I hate the idea of paying for a service I won't get full use of.

But thanks for the offer, if I do decide to get into it I'll give you a shout :)

I was admiring the weather in Guild Wars just this weekend :-)

Can't wait to see this all in action.

Though from patch notes, we Hunters are about to get gimped again... seems Hunters and Warriors do nothing BUT get gimped... depressing...
  • jumpdeveraux #9 6 years ago

All Tier 0 sets get a fine gimping...

Hunters Beaststalker set is completely trashed, who needs +200 armour as a buff when we don't melee often... Thanks Blizz

Not easy at all... ammo costs. Depending on what you use, it'll either cost you a fair whack of gold per restock (AV ammo is good but VERY pricey), or in time and effort in engineering to make it. Pets got gimped backalong and being a hunter is much harder, even with the new abilities it's still a lot trickier to solo these days. And do't get me STARTED on the Hunter epic quests in Cenarion Hold... wow, let's grind AQ to within an inch of our lives! Warriors get shafted because people just want them to tank... they've all but removed any hope of variety from being a Warrior, and that is remarkably sad in my opinion.

Hunters and Warriors get shafted because people think these jobs are easy. They aren't. Removing the variety of playing styles isn't helping matters none... it feels like we're being forced to play a set way that Blizzard has in mind... and that, to me, is depressing and reflects poorly on the direction the game is taking...

In short, Blizzard, we love your game... BUT LEAVE HUNTERS AND WARRIORS ALONE NOW FFS!

frod: the incentive was to get a horse. Then when I did, it was quite dissapointing. After level 40 there was no more goals to reach other than the actual lvl 60. I had nothing else to play for.

It'll finally be nice to see snow around the gates of ironforge. It'll be just like the intro :)

Just a quick heads up the patch is now live and its a sunny day in elwynn forest...

OnlyMe: Find a good guild and head for the high-end instances.

My guild has currently just started on Zul'Gurub and although the tactics on how to defeat all the bosses are well known since long it's still a thrill to get all the players to do what they're supposed to and defeat the boss in question. :)

And purple *is* a nice color. ;)

Completing quests for gold still isnt much of an incentive - best to do the work, but not complete until the limit is upped to 70 - with 20 quests to hand in you could pretty much hit 61 immediately.

OnlyMe, so why is it not a goal to reach level 60 and get a proper horse. Seems you set yourself a low and narrow target. There is also a Carrot-on-a-stick to get aswell. No carrots? Surely you jest.
