Nintendo to publish Meteos

In the USA, anyway. Which will do us just fine. Yoshi Universal Gravitation and Kirby DS dated, too.

Coincidence is a funny thing. No sooner had we dashed off frothing impressions of Q Entertainment's latest, Nintendo DS puzzle title Meteos, than we were alerted to a missive from Nintendo of America revealing that it will publish the game in the USA this June 27th.

Meteos - the creation of veterangame designers Masahiro Sakurai and Tetsuya Mizuguchi - is an instinctive and distinctly addictive falling blocks puzzler that tasks you with not only clearing blocks by lining them up but also boosting them completely off the screen - contending with level-specific factors like gravity and other issues.

It's no understatement to say it's the most fun this writer's had on the DS since Zoo Keeper, which given the amount of times we reference that per square word is quite something. You can read about our love of Meteos in much more detail here, and we will of course abuse the opportunity to play it again when it releases in the US this June.

A European release has yet to be confirmed, but, as we all know, DS games are region-free, so a US version will do nicely.

NoA also took the time to date the US versions of two other titles. The first is Yoshi's Universal Gravitation for GBA SP. The tilt sensor based title is due out in the US on June 13th, and you can read our review of the Japanese version here. Also out on the 13th is Kirby: Canvas Curve, known to you and us as Touch! Kirby's Magic Paintbrush.
