SmackDown vs. RAW demo News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

28 September, 2006

Honestly. No sooner do you write one item about new content on Xbox Live Marketplace, but a bucketload of new stuff turns up. This time it's headlined by a WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007 demo.

That's joined by trailers of Tony Hawk's Project 8, Wheelman, Frontlines: Fuel of War and Crossfire, along with what's described as an X06 game montage video.

On top of that, those of you who haven't already picked out a new theme for your dashboard now have the option of an X06 theme or one about Molyneux's latest, Fable 2.

And if you're living in France, Italy, Germany or Spain and missed out on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion downloadable content, Xbox Live's Major Nelson alerts us to the fact that four packs previously available in other regions are now available to you for 150 Microsoft points each.

Oh wow... now Microsoft really are spoiling us with all these demos (even if not all of them are good!). I've been hoping for a demo of this game; loved the series on the PS2 and this 360 version looks like being something special and a first for the Xbox platform, i.e. it gets a good WWE wrestling game at long last!

I have a friend who will buy a 360 just to play Smackdown vs. Raw in all it's incarnations.

I suppose its worth a spin...can't stand WWE anymore. And for a guess the latest games just the same they've been making for years but with a bit of polish and new rendition of a bra and panties match...yawn!

Yukes alway makes a good job of these titles because the variety of moves and modes is always excellent. Quite looking forward to having a bash with it.

WWE sucks but the games certainly don't.

WWE 2007 over Xbox Live should be amazing.

WWE does indeed suck. TNA is where it's at.

Wow, I sucked at this game. But that's okay, 'cause I didn't like it at all. Wrestling games really are no fun, just like the sport.

The fact people in Europe know what WWE is, thats the news to me right there.

Just played it...just wondering why the demo file is so big...had to laugh at the starting message "please watch this video because we made big changes to the wrestling system" (or something of the like) when its plainly obvious that its the same game as RvsS 2006 with sweat effects and graphical sheen. Least I won't waste my money now.

Didnt they have some issues with the World Wildlife Federation at some point?

WWF is what I knew of them in the 80s with Andre the Giant and such.

I don't know why. Pay-per-view buyrates are actually bigger outside the US for the WWE these days. In many ways they're more popular outside of America at the moment.

UFC is doing better over there right now.

I have one thing to say about wrestling...

Men in pants... fighting over a belt.

Great demo... very playable; responsive controls, great graphics, spot on atmosphere, decent commentary... must buy for me...

Mind you I loved the PS2 versions so seeing a slicker looking hi-def version running on the 360 is a dream come true, particularly as the Xbox had three pitiful WWE games.

I agree with lavalant, like it but it still doesn't feel as good as the old N64 ones. Cant wait for all the old wrestlers as DLC; Ultimate Warrior and LOD spring to mind.

You can say the same thing about boxing, MMA, and a number of other forms of sport and/or entertainment. Please do make sure to alert everyone if you ever come across someone involved in any of these and decide to say the same thing to their face. Y'know, just so we can all have three seconds of fun.

Think I'm going to pan the game even though I don't have a 360 to play it on :P. "Here Comes the Pain", was the better one of the past years. All the other after that feel stiff, they should have stuck with the slightly arcady feel rather than going for a more sim type level.

But don''t listen to me.
