Serious Sam 2 demo released

Try out 2K's shooter sequel.

2K Games has released a new demo for PC and Xbox shooter Serious Sam II, now available from the game's website.

Weighing in at 250MB, the demo features a full level from the final game and all 15 weapons - "Although you'll probably need to cheat to see 'em all," apparently. You also get to drive one of the game's ten vehicles.

Serious Sam II is out on October 14.

The sound needs a lot of work.

So does some of the level design. Lots of annoying invisible wall bullshit.

It was kinda fun in a mindless sort of way - which I suppose is what Serious Sam is about.

However, invisible walls, small levels and enemies and the fact that the double barrelled shotgun seemed to rule above all else spoiled it a bit. Fun on co-op tho.

Didn't this come out a week ago?

Just what I was thinking. This is old news.

BTW, the demo sucked. It wasn't nearly the fun of the previous games. IMO First Encounter is still the best Sam game.

Got bored of the first one - will try again with optimism forged in my heart.

A playable benchmark, and not a good one.

I was actually saddened by the news today (which has bypassed Eurogamer... AGAIN!) that SS2 went gold. That simply meant they didn't give a damn what the fans were saying about the demo. They probably just thought: "Yeah whatever, let's just get this game out the door." And that'll be the downfall of this game. People will read the all the reviews with bad scores, thinking "I'll better try this game for myself". And then they try this demo... :(

I wish they'd just released the XBox-version (this PC-demo was very XBox-ish anyway), and then pushed the PC-version back 'till Christmas or something, and listened carefully to the fans, and made a REAL Sam game out of it!

It is wholey possible that the publisher demanded the demo for publicity reasons, and the developer was glad to get back to the task of trying to finish the game as best they could in the remaining time.

I'm not saying this is fact, but things aren't always as straightforward as you may first assume.

surely as a demo it does its job?

    a) is my pc powerful enough to play it?
    b) is it the type of game i want to buy and play?

That's all i need answering from a demo

Yeah, and this demo showed me that I should download the game and try it, before I shell out my cash for it.
