A new English language demo for Wild West FPS Call of Juarez is now available for download via 3D Gamers.

Call of Juarez follows the adventures of Billy Candle, a young man who's been accused of murdering his mother and stepfather. You also get to play as his nemesis, Reverend Ray McCall, the brother of the dead stepfather and an expert gunslinger.

You can expect lots of saloon brawls, train robberies, ranch shootouts and the like, and you'll be able to take out enemies with weapons such as a six-shooter and a bow and arrow. There's also a multiplayer objective mode and a co-op option.

The 530MB demo lets you play through two single-player missions, one as Ray and one as Billy. Our German friends may like to know that a version of the demo in their language is also available on 3D Gamers.

Call of Juarez will be available exclusively for PC in September.

Just tried it - a bit clunky, terrible loading times, and the performance is worse than Oblivion...

BUT it's also quite fun - good Western atmosphere, nice graphics, a cool shootout in th first level, and some neat ideas. If they polish it a bit and improve the performance, this could be great.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you there. The firefights felt a bit clunky - an aiming mode would have gone down better instead of having two pistols. The atmosphere was great, quite a realistic and gritty feel to it, and the graphics fitted with this too.

If they could optimise it better and make the shooting less clunky, they could be on to a winner here.

ah it's prefectly playable, and it's fun... a bit max payne. but my x800 pro won't do anymore, at least not on high settings.

Quite good fun. Enjoyed the second level more than the first. But yes there's some serious optimisation required.
