Saint Seiya coming to Europe

PS2 fighter due out this autumn.

Atari and Namco Bandai are teaming up to bring PS2 fighter Saint Seiya: The Hades to Europe later this year.

Based on the manga series of the same name, the game sees the Spectres - who have been kept at bay by Athena for a whole 243 years - reclaiming their powers following the awakening of Hades. It's your job to "do battle with the supreme commander of Hell and his armies to overcome the impending devastation", which sounds fun.

You can expect loads of enhancements to the fighting system, along with "technically dazzling rapid-fire battles" in a huge arena. There are plenty more range attacks, counter-moves and combos to choose from, and "the fighting has been tuned throughout to give the player fiercely dynamic battles where one right or wrong move can have catastrophic effects."

What's more, the Cosmo system has been improved, so you can use a whole host of new special attacks to take out your opponents.

Saint Seiya: The Hades is out in the autumn - in the meantime, here are some screenshots.

Blerk - this isn't a Namco game, it's a Bandai game. Bandai games have always been rubbish.

Worst, its Atari/Bandai/Namco game ... only way to get worst is with EA being involved too.

    "PS2 fighter"
ok. That narrows it down a whole lot. *sigh*
    *browses web*

Oh, so it's in effect, the precursor to Dragonball Z...Well, a few of the shots, with all the energy blasts being fired off certainly suggested that, and the character designs definitely reminded me of 80's cartoons, but you never can be sure. I guess I may have been mistaken though, with the view I held that it bore strong enough resemblance to "Psychic Force" (I got that idea from looking at the second shot.)
But two of three isn't bad.

The game looks "interesting". To the extent that I'll keep an eye out for further info, and see how things develop.

The article provides plenty of information, without doubt. Unfortunately, it's great information for those already familiar with the source material; though I guess this is probably due to the reporter's infamiliarity with the game(s), too? :)
It's just that the idea of punching combos out on a controller is in no way restrictive for a game like this, so I guess it was a surprise to find the news report so darned complexing, despite the screens, lol!

Is this a sequel of the first one? Because the Saint Seiya game for PS2 was released in -at least- Spain, France and Italy like ages ago...

Yes, this one's called "SS:The Hades".
You're correct that there was a previous game based on the series released for PS2 in 2005 called "SS:Chapter Sanctuary".

I don't know much about how the two are related story-wise however, bar the fact that those two titles bear likeness to the names of the anime series for Saint Seiya, and those were released in the same order.

Stop releasing crap like this and give us more Tales games, you bastards.

Tried the first game for a couple of hours, but it seemed so utterly meaningless, ugly and simplistic that I never gave it another go.

Think I'll pass on this on unless it turns out to be surprisingly good.
