Tomb Raider Legend footage

See Lara in action on EG TV.

There's not long to go now until Lara Croft returns in Tomb Raider: Legend - and if you fancy seeing how she's shaping up, head on over to Eurogamer TV right now.

There you'll find a new movie of our Lara taking a dip - no, not a skinny one - and generally getting up to her old breath-holding, tunnel-diving, lever-pulling tricks. Ooh, would you look at them water effects.

Tomb Raider: Legend is out on PC, PS2 and Xbox on April 11th, with PSP and Xbox 360 versions to follow soon after.

    No really. Which version?

PS2 ok. I'm waiting for footage of the 360 version, they're erally sprucing it up apparently.

So from above the water is crystal clear, yet when the camera goes under it becomes green and murky? How odd.

I never liked Tomb Raider much, but I must say I am mildly excited about this game! The clip looked good - good ambiance, good music, GREAT animation... The way Lara moves when she turns around in the water is a great transition where many games will just have the character turn without animation (hello Enter the Matrix.) That's attention to detail. Looks like a great Prince of Persia-inspired romp.

I don't see a breath-o-meter in this video. I wonder if the underwater sections in this game will be as challenging as the ones in Tomb Raider 3. Let's hope so.

im looking forward to this one, mainly because it looks a lot like the first one but newer :p. hope they keep it to tombs/ruins and have plenty of tigers and bears to kill, just like tomb raider 1+2 (the only great tomb raiders IMO)

OK, this is weird... Am I prepared to wait a little bit more for the x360 version (in order to compare and choose) or not ?

When Legends was first announced I couldn't care less (TR: AoD was still a warm memory), yet as time passes I find myself more and more intrigued... I will still wait for some trustworthy reviews before parting with my cash and I'd prefer the x360 version for more eye-candy, but the delay is killing me...

yeah im hoping a couple of reviews come out before the launch (rather than one biased as f**k review)

I don't if you've seen those movies already. They're showing X360 footage - you can grab them from Tomb Raider Chronicles. The first one is G4's Attack of the Show video (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr7/g4_movies.html ) and the second - IGN Karima Adebibe review plus some footage (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr7/hdtv_movies.html ). Unfortunately, it's not HD ;)

Looks quite sold school to me, and that is a good thing. Great atmosphere.

Really reminded me of the underwater sections of TR1 only prettier. Lets just hope the jumping puzzle mechanic is as old school. The later titles seemed to have lots of "try and die" gameplay, whereas in the first game you could always avoid falling to your death if you spent time working out a route as it was never unclear whether you could make a jump or not.

High hopes for a return to form (plus a few new elements of course, just to keep things interesting).

    video footage here (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1503237705270 522904
&q=tomb+raider+legend) doesnt look to promising.. to much shooting, and an anoying voice talking to you all the time.

Oh FUCK no. I sincerely PRAY that she will lose or destroy that radio at some point VERY SOON in the game. Ugh.

And....oh no.....from that video it looks as if the controls are camera relative. FUCK. That will ruin the gameplay right there, already I'm seeing "push the directional pad in the direction you want to swing", fuck that, NO, I hate that in some of those other games, jumping and climbing in GoW for example were pure HELL. Just one direction that works at all time no matter what way the goddamn camera is facing WILL DO FINE thank you. I sincerely hope that there'll be an option to turn that shit off and return to the control method of previous games, because if not I'll see the climbing and jumping acrobatics that made older TR's so great just get completely turned to shit.

It's all because of you whining incompetent sods, goddammit.
  • dudefella #16 6 years ago

Those controls worked in Prince of Persia, why not here? You're whining, man. Also, all this looks like it's the beginning of the game, I doubt the radio chatter will be as frequent later on. Hopefully.
