Micro Machines to return

In new PC, PS2 and PSP game.

Codemasters has confirmed to Eurogamer that a new Micro Machines game is currently in development for PC, PSP and PS2.

Reports that the classic series is to make a comeback began to emerge after an ad appeared in the manual of MMORPG RF Online, which was released on Friday.

Now a Codemasters spokesperson has told us that the game is indeed on the way - and that it's "due for release this summer."

He added that the game will be based around earlier instalments in the series, but with lots of enhancements - so we're hoping for all manner of spanky new tracks, exciting new power-ups and, naturally, much better graphics. A few more multiplayer options wouldn't go amiss, either...

Expect more details later in the week.

Shame about the lack of Xbox or 360 versions as a MM3 style game would be great fun on Live.

Just hope its not a broken 3d version.

aww I would've hoped for a Nintendo DS version with Nintendo WFC support but I guess PC will have to do for me. I loved the Micro Machines games

I'm already playing MM 1 & 2 on my PSP, and it's great! Hope this is good.

Yes!! So excited about this. I LOVED Micro Machines on the 16-bit consoles, and V3 wasn't half-bad either... About time we got a proper update. The last 'Micro Machines' by some company other than Codemasters was, well, rather rubbish.

Codie's games always have the right sense of 'fun' about them, I find. Also, hope we get the return of Spider, Cherry, etc... haha :)

I hope Manfred Trenz will do this one.

There probably is an Xbox version. Announcements of new releases on the format have to be approved by Microsoft first. That's why, for example, Xbox Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast was announced later than the other versions.

DS deserves it too, maybe a different version. Online MM!

    Haha PSP F0R3\/3R

And lets cross fingers for PROPER GAME SHARING!

I hope has more in common with the Megadrive games, rather than Micro Maniacs on the PS1. It would be good to see a decent update though, and online & Wi-Fi is a must. It's still one of the best multiplayer games ever :).

If I'm not mistaken Atari held this licence for a while a few years ago. I think they only released one game though which sunk like a lead balloon.

MM on the PSP would be a treat. Hours of fun on the snooker table, ironing board, pond etc. None of this Micro Maniacs shit though thankyouverymuch.

V3 ftw! Returned to gaming far too late to enjoy the 1 & 2 shennigans.

    MM2 FTW!

/turns right at the 2nd bakewell

No DS version? For shame. Online mode would have been great.
  • udat #13 6 years ago

I would pay money for Micro Machines 2 on XBox live arcade.

/me shoves Wobble off the sponge.

    YES!

Micro Machines V3 was one of the best multiplayer games ever! Keepsies mode rocked so hard!

Fingers crossed that the PC version is online and has a Trackmania charm to it.

I liked Mashed more than any Micro Machines game I can remember.
  • Wobble #17 6 years ago

/brakes hard in front of udat to steal all his momentum then shoots off up the screen.

v3 and mashed are pale imitations of MM2.. nothing since it has gotten the collision physics so brutally perfect. MM2 was all about screwing your opponents.. and then throwing a strop and causing a keyboard clash when you were the first person knocked out. =)

DS deserves it too, maybe a different version. Online MM!

OMG! YES! MM/Mashed would be AWESOME on the DS! My god that is the best idea I've heard in ages.

I dribbled a bit when I read your suggestion.

Who are these MM haters?! I'm mystified as to why or how you could hate the game!

So Codies does it again, release a rehash of an old game.

Let look at their list of recent releases,

Operation Flashpoint Xbox - rehash of a dated PC game
LMA Manager 2006 - rehashed version of 2005 with very little new in it
Sensible Soccer - announced a few weeks back, rehash of an amiga classic
Micro Machines - rehash of another classic
TOCA Race Driver 3 - oh look, another sequel

I spot a pattern here!! COME ON Codemasters, can you NOT think of anything original????

Admittedly I'd love to play MM on Live, but it'd have to come on Live Arcade and be the old version of say MM V3, I'm just not gonna pay full price for another version!!!

Its good to see they haven't abandoned the brand. MM is one of my favourite game brands.
