Ghost Recon 360 out next week

PC version slips to summer.

The Xbox 360 version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter has had its release date changed again - but the good news is it's arriving early.

GRAW 360 is out on March 10th, with the Xbox version following a week later and the PS2 game due out on March 31st. PC gamers are in for a longer wait, though - their version won't arrive until "quarter two" now, which means some time this summer.

While you're waiting, why not check out the trailer for GRAW's multiplayer co-op mode - it's now available for viewing on Eurogamer.tv.

all well and good except that the 17th is not next week as the title proclaims, it is infact the week after.
  • Furbs #2 6 years ago

Yeah, and the official forums are still saying the 10th for the 360, so file this under "wrong".
  • b33rl0v3r #3 6 years ago

So tell me again how is it coming out early? DOH!

I hope all this time has been worth it as I'm hoping this will be the game that start off my 360 collection ... or the game that delays it until Splinter Cell Double Agent!

Game had it listed as the 31st for ages (despite what the forums said) then about 2 weeks ago (!) there was an official announcement that it had been brought forward to the tenth. Just checking Play and Game today (the latter who is invariably behind on these things) and they are also both now saying the 10th.

Ellie's not too great with numbers...
  • InfiniteFury #6 6 years ago

Besided the release date section on here has been saying the 10th for about a week now. Can we have some clarification please?
  • Furbs #7 6 years ago

Official post from Tuesday 7th of Feb! :p

I've been monitoring the forum everyday since then and they've repeatedly confirmed this, and denied any delays. Only difference is the Xbox1 version IS the 17th.

    I want a GRAW faceplate. :(

Can't find any UK places with the offer though.
  • InfiniteFury #9 6 years ago

So, is this story based on a press-release from Ubisoft or EG just digging around?
  • Chewy #10 6 years ago

    I want a burberry face plate. ;-)
  • Furbs #11 6 years ago

    InfiniteFury - god knows! :p
More evidence from someone with 1000 posts on the official forum who says he works for Game (ie. as reliable as an unofficial announcement can be):
"I spoke to the XBOX buyer about an hour ago and she has confirmed that next Friday is the day."

Trust me, it'll be the 10th for the 360!
  • alimokrane #12 6 years ago

Oh god .. I fear the PC version is getting cancelled like ghost recon 2
  • krudster #13 6 years ago

  • alpha-0ne #23 6 years ago

Who thinks the PC version will look better. a la COD 2....

Unless they cancel it that is....
  • alpha-0ne #30 6 years ago

smoison the graphics are more than good enough i dont want to wait until summer for it :-)

anyway the pc version does not have the 3rd person viewpoint or the exclusive xbox 360 multiplayer maps :-)

I wonder if this early release has anything to do with beating Battlefield 360 to the shelves?
  • Furbs #32 6 years ago

I think almost certainly, even though BF2 has been put back to April now (no doubt for the same reason).

Smoison, based on the screenshots I've seen, I doubt there will be any difference at all. Infact, if there was, do you not think Ubi would be using the PC version to showcase the game rather than the 360? (afaik, every video released so far is for the 360). Not to mention to get it running as well as the 360 version does, even with a state of the art PC, you'll probably need an Aegia physics card to remove some of the strain from the C/GPU.

And dont worry, they're not going to cancel it 4 weeks before release now are they?
  • morriss #33 6 years ago

  • Kiigan #34 6 years ago

It's been the 10th of March for the 360 version for some time now. This isn't news.
  • ududy #35 6 years ago

As much as i like Ubisoft, and i like them a lot relative to the incompatability of the word 'like' and big game publishers, they've been f***ing with PC rainbow six/ghost recon players for years now. Games being pushd back, games being cancelled, games suffering from extreme consolitis dumbing-down. I'd rather see those brands dead. Yes, bitterness is my second name.
  • alpha-0ne #36 6 years ago

Q2 is not a month away we are talking ubisoft Q2 which is june to aug
  • inpHilltr8r #37 6 years ago

The word 'Warfighter' sounds a bit crap. They should have stuck with Soldier, maybe call it Ghost Recon: Advanced Soldier Simulator.
  • smoison #38 6 years ago

FYI COD 2 was easily better (graphicaly) on a High end PC.

  • Scimarad #39 6 years ago

Exactly how high was the end of this PC?
  • Talha #40 6 years ago

@LeDil: I am not aware of the PC version of CoD2 looking better, but boy does it look IDENTICAL even on my 6800Gt-equipped P4 (it even runs at around 35 FPS). Which surely is not the point for the 360 - I mean, at least right now 360 games should look way, way better than their PC counterparts.

Anyways I think the PC delay for GRAW sucks big time, and I really cannot get my head around why they need so much more time for the PC version given that the game has been in development for quite a bit. My bet is that they are going to optimize it for DX10 in time for launch of Windows Vista.

Of course, my other (and more realistic) bet is that it is going the way of GR2. Hopefully by then I will have one of the next gen consoles and gotten rid of the horrid StarForce protection on Ubi's PC games.

Maybe this has something to do with it being exactly the same game and using exactly the same art assets as the PC version...? Your system runs at 35fps peak? The 360 version is locked at 60fps, same game running twice as fast...

If you really want to see the difference in what 360 can do compared with the PC just take a look at the screen shots of the 360 version of Battlefield 2: MC compared to the PC.

And the 360 games will start looking better and better within the next 6-18months when developers get used to the system and start to take advantage of the multi-core architecture.

I don't think Vista is coming out this summer... and the PC version is probably delayed as they have put more of their resources into getting the 360 version and Xbox version finished. They are fixed platforms and easier to develop for when you don;t have to take multiple configurations into account, they also have far less piracy than the PC and so they make more money from these versions. Well that would be my guess anyway.

@king_skins: Yes you can't argue with 60 FPS. I concede that is a major advantage of the 360 version, and vital to any game. But as I said, my system is midrange by today's standards, and the game will surely touch far more than 60 FPS on a real high-end PC. My point is that surely a 360 game should look a lot better than even on a top-end PC? Expecting less would be like expecting a PS2 game to look exactly like the console version on PC, only with 60 FPS (indeed, that has happened with a lot of cross-platform titles).

Yes I have no doubt that 360 games will start to look better and better but the trouble is that PC hardware will also advance by leaps and bounds, particularly if what I have read about DirectX 10 is true.

In my heart though I am still currently a console affectionado, and I realize that a good PC will cost an arm and a leg unlike the 360 or indeed the PS3. I also believe that PC gaming is devolving into a grand, organized ripping off of hapless gamers more and more each day.

But Vista is slated to ship this summer, as far as I know.
