Dark Messiah video feature

See how the game begins.

With Dark Messiah of Might & Magic out today on PC, Eurogamer TV is running a special exclusive introduction to the war-town land of Ashan, with a sneak peek at the game's opening story sequence, and a run through of all the game's key features.

The three-part video preview (one, two, three) should give you an idea of how good the game's looking, and if that's not enough you can always read our 8/10 review.

As the review itself says, Arx Fatalis developer Arkane's latest title is a linear, first-person fantasy action role-playing game, but with the emphasis on action. Bearing comparison in some areas to the likes of Oblivion and Thief, using Half-Life 2's Source Engine as a basis, it's quite a handsome bugger too.

But then, you'll know that already if you're watching the preview, so why don't I just be quiet?

Buggily with a crash to desktop?

If you are having load times and crashing issues, lower your texture level to medium, no need to change anything else. Works a charm.

I played the demo and was pretty much underwhelmed. These clips do look good though. I don't really have the urge to buy it though as I have Oblivion which has similar combat, albeit at a slower pace. I don't think there is enough depth in this game for me.

I mean the Source Engine is spiffy and everything but really, there is more to games than that. HL2 is enough for my Source Engine needs I think. :)

Sorry Yeevle, the combat isn't like Oblivions, it's far more in depth and fun. If Oblivion had DM's combat it woiuld be far better, even the magic seems to be done better in DM than OB, though there are far less options in DM, it being an action game rather than a full blown RPG.

I guess you are right, the demo didn't really give you many options to play in each skill tree obviously. I'll wait and see. Might pick it up on budget. Or maybe Steam if I'm drunk hehe.
