PGR4 properly unveiled
I.e. not by Peugeot this time.
And I'm surprised it took me this long to get to this one (well, you know, the corkscrew was being difficult), but: Project Gotham Racing 4 has been officially unveiled for Xbox 360.
A Ferrari-laden trailer shown at X06 tonight, with Peter Moore no doubt pumping his fists beneath it, brought us first sight of Bizarre Creations' inevitable sequel, racing through an unidentified wireframe metropolis.
Of course it's not our first sighting of PGR4, thanks to long-time pals Peugeot, who spoilt it all by mentioning the game on its website earlier this month - and saying it was due out at the end of 2007 or in the first half of 2008.
Microsoft didn't mention a date itself, but we reckon that's what they would have said.

Mixing PGR with TDU? wow that would be so good.

Its about time they ditched this contrivance. It was an interesting idea in MSR, but its never really gone anywhere. I would wager that in practice, most players care more about setting faster times rather than a fishtailing bonus.

Actually this is one of the only reasons I've stuck with the series. I find shaving half-a-second off a lap time incredibly tedious. The skid and cone challenges reallyhelp add some variation to this tired genre.
What I'd like to see is even more varied challenges, and some multiplayer ideas that deal with the current bumper car style of play.

Funny - TDU did just the opposite for me. Sandbox shmambox - bring back carefully crafted and considered linearity please.

Just how mant things can you actually do with a car? Bizzare have their bases covered if you ask me

They would definetly keep me interested in racing...

I didn't really mean sandbox play or a completely open world, just that I'd like some more variation to the track design and locations. Altough I think an open environment like in TDU could be fantastic as well, that's not really what I'm looking for in PGR. I'd like something like the point to point races in the first NFS. And more real race tracks, nünburgring is nice and all but a few more wouldn't hurt.

I like the car delivery missions in TDU, as they are a different take on skill based driving, where safe driving is rewarded instead of taking risks. Though you have to put some kind of time limit on them or something in order to make them really interesting..

PGR3 has them already. But you have to download them, and I'm not sure if they're free.
