More PGR3 content soon News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

27 June, 2006

Bizarre Creations is planning to release another 12-car downloadable content pack for Project Gotham Racing 3 in the near future.

Following the Speed Pack, now we have the Style Pack, which features a few BMWs, a new Ferrari and some friends, according to the Official Xbox Magazine website.

As with the Speed Pack, it'll cost 400 Microsoft points (or that's the current plan) and it'll also be able to download the cars individually too for 60 points - with one, the RUF R.K. Spyder, available for free.

Along with the Spyder, the Style Pack includes the 365 GTB4 ("Daytona"), BMW M3 CSL, BMW M6, BMW MINI COOPER S, BMW Z8, Chrysler Firepower Concept, Ferrari 430 Challenge, Gumpert Apollo Coupe 4.2 V8, Mercedes CLK DTM AMG, Pagani Zonda F and Vanwall GPR V12.

We'll let you know when it's all released.

but slow cars get a really good race as it's all about lines and there's less speed to punt others off track with. This is a good thing. Honda Civic next pls!

Oh yeah, and lots more tracks :)

@York

£3.20, or perhaps a bit more if you bought your points via XBLive rather than from somewhere like GAME online.

I'd give 'em another £50 if they took that TruSkill shite out of the online mode and put back PGR2's live system with a few lobby tweaks.

60 pts for a car I can hand-select, without forcing me to buy a bunch I'm not interested in? Now that's what I'm talking about. That's like 0,75€, you got yourselves a deal (probably more than one, too).

Now this is where premium content becomes interesting. Let people choose whether to go whole hog or part way. I like this. As ever, Microsoft Game Studios shows other developers the way, just like their timed pricing with Halo 2 downloads. It's also quite similar to the iTunes model. You could buy a 15 track album for £10 or what ever it is. Or you could buy the tracks individually, but to get all the same way would cost you £15. So basically, it's cheaper to slap down £10 to begin with if you want the whole thing, but you're not forced to go that high, and can spend as little as £4 on 4 songs should you so wish. I think (hope) we're seeing the future of the Marketplace business model right here. After the debacle that has been the new GRAW and Call Of Duty packs, I wonder if this one is calculated PR spin on Microsoft's part? The sneaky bastards! Lol!!

A recent scan from a mag listing upcoming marketplace content had the price listed as 500 Pts for 5 cars + 2 extra game modes which were "Cat & Mouse" and "Proximity Based Racing"

Hope they're still included, but with 7 more cars and for 100 less points than expected.

Now if they could just release it to coincide with the final whistle of the World Cup it would be perfect...

minis? I thought all cars had to do over 180mph or something in this game?
Who cares about new cars.. it adds nothing really. new multiplay circuits is what we want. I haven't played this in ages either. Probably because its just not that fun!

Charging for cars? They're fleecing us!......Oh forget it, its getting old.

I'm excited about this one, 400 points for new cars is reasonable. The only problem is, those who boycott it or can't afford it ruin it for the rest of us because we can't use the cars if they don't have them.

Reguarding the tracks, Bizarre have said that each city is well over a gig of data alone, so they aren't planning on releasing one any time soon. Besides, if the GRAW download is anything to go by, a gig of data would probably cost around 1'500pts, and then people would be calling it a rip off and boycotting the game again ¬_¬

This was actually mentioned about 3 weeks ago at the bottom of the Xbox Live Newsletter.

Right at the bottom it said:

PGR® 3 Style Pack (pack B)
Cat and mouse mode returns in the latest content pack from Xbox Live Marketplace.

whether 3 games counts as 'many' depends how pedantic you are being but
Gran Tourismo 3, PGR2 and Forza immediately spring to mind.

Hypershadow - the good thing about this is that the people who dont pay for it can still play with those who do. Its why they give you the free car. Basically you download that one and if you dont pay for the others, when you race and someone uses a paid for car, it appears as the free one. Does that make sense?

Obviously if they release new tracks, that wont be possible though.

Furbs; I thought it worked that the free download contained the data for ALL the cars, but only the unlock key for one of them. That way when you play against people who have bought the cars your 360 has the assets to display them.
