CoD2 Invasion Pack this week
For less points than they said.
Call of Duty 2 fans will be able to get their hands on five new multiplayer maps this week, and they'll cost less than we originally thought, according to Infinity Ward's community manager.
The Invasion Pack, announced in the run up to E3, was originally due out in July. That's not the case any more, according to a chap Xbox Live's Larry Hryb identifies as the game's community manager - instead you'll be able to get them on Thursday, June 29th.
What's more, the Invasion Pack will go on sale on Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft points rather than 900 as originally stated.
The five new maps are Antoville, France (Crossroads), St. Louet, France (Newvillers), Amaye sur Seulles, France (Normandy), Alam Halfa, Egypt (Decoytown) and Rostov, Russia (Harbour).
They follow the release of some free content and a four-map Skirmish Pack for 400 Microsoft points last month.
There's no word on whether Infinity Ward plans to continue the onslaught of new World War II battlegrounds, but given the game's popularity - it's still the most played Xbox 360 online game according to Microsoft's stats - it seems quite likely.

(Prices from Play.com, I'm not sure how much I'm paying when I buy straight from Microsoft, which is so much more convenient.)

I love COD2 the only game I seem to play on my 360.
I have all the other maps that were released last month and will defiantly be purchasing these on Thursday evening.
The developer does not need to offer new maps and could have left the game as it was (It was very good once the online issues were sorted) but have decided to spend time and money creating these for us gamers to increase our enjoyment of there game.
Good on them, and I do not begrudge paying for fantastic maps on a fantastic game.

Isn't that top of a list of games that have been played while the 360 was connected to Live? Not the same as being played online at all.

why does everyone think that extra content should be free?
if you want another pint in the pub its not free, if you buy a car you don't expect free petrol for ever. -why are games different?

Yup, which is why you'll also usually see Oblivion somewhere in the top 5.

When your margins are small you have to find as many ways as possible to make money. Take the mobile phone business. First it was the phone. Then you bought the services. And it's been like that pretty much from the word go. The probelm for gamers is that this a new model for us. We used to buy a console and a game and that was that.

The online community is excellent for COD2 360.

Developer: All done, 20 maps.
Publisher: Let's release it with 10 maps then release 2 map packs of 5 maps each. We can easily get 10 quid more per game without the public bitching about a higher shelf price.

The publishers are responsible for the Kennedy assignation too.
