I loved these games but to be fair I don't feel the need for any sequels...then again I suppose they could add some Internet multiplayer to them.

Lumines 2? Ooohhh, yes. EEE? Yes!!!! Meteos? Ye - hang on a mo... :-(

I bought Meteos... and still wonder how to play it. I mean, I got the whole concept, but after 2 minutes of play, the game gets faster and faster and pretty soon, the only way of playing is to hit randomly the touch screen as fast as possible. Not very funny.

Have I missed something ?

Lumines is a cleaner (read not as complex) game than meteos so you might enjoy it more.

A game of Meteos is only meant to last about 3 minutes. If you survive beyond that you're doing well. You can help your chances of survival by planning ahead, by setting things up so you can launch 5 columns at once. Your choice of planet also helps.

I wish I could categorise Geometry Wars under that heading too, rather than me just being stupendously crap at it.

When I read the sorts of scores others were getting on a different EG thread I nearly laid 3 eggs and 2 slices of bacon.

I can barely stay alive till the demo times out, stoopid ageing fingers/brain :(

frogger: all you need to focus on is to connect stacks of blocks into one big stack and launch it into space to clear the entire screen at once. It's the onlyway to survive and get a decent high score.

You can do it easily, for example by aligning one or two blocks at the bottom left or right of a falling stack so that it will immediately connect with two similarly shaped/colored blocks when it lands. It'll launch again, and you just repeat until you can clear the entire screen at once. Remember to use L or R to speed up time when necessary.

Actually, try to NOT clear the screen at once. Because at later stage in the game that means your area will fill up very quickly and you will die.

You need to balance a stack of Meteos that fills the entire width of the planet. At this stage you are invincible, as long as you keep that thing floating. Always wait until it (almost) lands, then start a new reaction, but not at the lowest row, because that will propel the block upwards with extra force. Do that often enough and you'll clear the screen and die. The reaction needs to be up high enough so as to not score the extra propulsion, but low enough in order not to split the block up.

Speed up the time especially after starting the reaction. The block will travel upward towards the edge, and new Meteos that fall down will immediately be counted towards your score.

I always have a good laugh at people who think they achieve good scores / multiplayer results with scribbling.

Thanks for helping. I'll give it one or two more tries (when my wife gives me back my DS, as I was stupid enough to buy her Animal Crossing 2 weeks ago), but I think this game will be on sale on my favourite second hand website pretty soon.

Hooray for Lumines Plus. No need to buy a PSP! (Shame about Darkstalkers, but I can live without it) The first Meteos is great fun, too.

What would a Disney edition add to anything, though? I mean, Disney's going to mostly attract kids, but Meteos can get pretty intense, as you try to get yourself out of some testing scrapes with the meteos falling ever faster...
