QuakeCon 2006 details News

PC News by Ellie Gibson

26 June, 2006

It's official: QuakeCon 2006 will go ahead, despite earlier rumours of a cancellation - and yes, attendees will get the opportunity to play Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

According to a post on the QuakeCon website, this year's event will take place from August 3rd - 6th at the Hilton Anatole hotel, Dallas, Texas.

If you want to attend, you better get your skates on - "With about 1,800 BYOC spots, QuakeCon 2006 will be a bit more exclusive than it has been the last couple of years, but we hope people will enjoy the more personal touch this year," the post reads.

"QuakeCon 2006 will of course include all the great activities that it’s known for, including high-stakes tournaments, workshops, exhibitors, the BYOC Area, parties, and the public’s first chance to play Enemy Territory: Quake Wars."

Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and will open on Wednesday, June 28th at 9pm EDT (that's 2am GMT on June 29th in the old money). You'll be able to register, and book discount hotel rooms, via QuakeCon.org.

Quake Wars - Yes! I hope this is a new one and not the same one as E3.

The quicker we have a playable demo, for us Joe Public, the better!

I hope it's out soon too. Still looking for that rush Planetside used to give me, before they ruined it.

I really cant wait for this to show up, im getting ancy just thinking about it. Saw some shots set in a city the other day and now im 200% sold on this game. If anything though, i hope they steal the squad system that battlefield 2 originally stole off them :)

I almost guessed what BYOC ment. Only, I guessed "canapés". Made more sense after I checked the dictionary.
