Full Auto demo on 360 Live News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

26 January, 2006

The Xbox 360 Full Auto demo we were promised has finally shown up on Live Marketplace, weighing in at 646MB.

Whack it on your hard disk and you'll be able to race around one of the game's city tracks clobbering stuff with missiles, machineguns, grenades and your own fat car ass as you tussle with seven other AI-controlled racers.

Part of the game is to build up "wreck points" by smashing stuff up and destroying your fellow racers, and you can also make use of nitrous-style boost by doing power-slides and an "unwreck" time-rewind feature for undoing mishaps by smashing stuff.

The demo lets you pick one of two cars with MANLY NAMES like Vulcan. The full game will include lots more, including unlockable ones, as well as a variety of multiplayer modes in addition to a structured career mode with all sorts of objective-based killingness.

One thing that's a bit disappointing is the level of slowdown in the demo, which we hoped would have been sorted since our preview build, but then the demo's reportedly based on similarly old code, so there's still hope.

The game's finished now anyway and due out next month.

want to try this..

BTW I've heard that weirdly the devs of Trackmainia don't seem to like consoles and have no interest in porting the game to any(as yet).
Which is DUMB.

Mmmm - it did not exactly rock my world.

A driving game has to be a *bit* like driving. This isn't.

Nope...you can't play the demo on live.

The demo didn't exactly come up to me, smack me with a kipper, and kick me in the nads. I'll pass...

Give us a RR6 demo damn you!

Ah, so it is the same as the one on OXM then.

Should never have been released to the public (as I keep saying), as the slowdown is crippling. People who don't frequent Internet forums may not realise that this is early code, and it could well put them off the final version.

So is this demo exactly the same one that was on OXM360's demo disc a month or so back because it sure sounds like it...?

I'll give this a miss. It's a game for when there aren't any good games available.

To be honest I didn't try playing it over live although i've not known any other demos that let you play multiplayer over live. For what it's worth though despite the game being a bit naff there doesn't seem to be any slowdown on my machine...new demo maybe?

You can play the quake 4 demo on live.

Maybe its only the shit games that they let you play on live in the demo version :p

I've got this waiting for me when I get home...assuming the auto off worked and it hasn't blown up due to overheating....:S

Unless it's a different demo from the one on OXM, it's a pile of arse.

Hmm, I dunno. Well, it was kind of enjoyable for a couple runthroughs, but now I know it's not for me.. And that is truly what a demo is for.. *Erases Full Auto from mind*

What a terrible terrrible advert for just how bad some xbox 360 games will be. Slow down, frame rate drops, near dreamcastesque graphics, simplistic and repetetetetive gameplay....hmmm next generation my harris.

If that's a taste of what's to come in the very near future then it's probably gonna be worth selling the 360 and coming back to it in 4/6 months when some more real games are out for it.
