New Vice City Stories trailer News

PSP News by Tom Bramwell

25 October, 2006

With the game due to launch over here on 3rd November, Rockstar has released another trailer for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories on PSP.

Showing on Eurogamer TV now, it traces its way through elements of the story with Phil Collins, of all people, drumming and singing his way along in one of the cut-scenes.

As you'll know if you've been keeping track, VCS brings us face to face again with Lance Vance - although we'll control his younger brother, Vic, who has to try and make it for himself in the Miami-esque town after a spell in the military.

This, as is customary, he does by getting embroiled in organised crime, nicking cars and generally tearing the place up.

For more on the game, check out the game-page for hands-on previews of both single- and multiplayer elements, and an interview with Rockstar Leeds' Gordon Hall.

He looks like he's drumming with chopsticks.

As popular 80s musician, Phil Collins has strong connections to the genre of gangsta rap - please see versions of "In the air tonight" or "Take me home" by the likes of Bone Thugs N Harmony. As any San Andreas player knows, Rockstar loves both music genres, so no surprise here.

I'd much rather hear Phil Collins perform Gangsta Rap to be honest... :)

Vice City is all about cheesy 80s pop music. Why the surprise?

Phil Collins? Bloody hell. Aren't Rockstar meant to be the company with street cred? There goes that out of the window, then. May as well go the whole hog and get Mull of Kintyre in there. Or Agadoo.

And pretty much introduced the word "wanker" to America, which he said quite a bit IIRC, because the standards people didn't know what he was saying. Nice.

Rockstar is one of the few companies in gaming that really understands 'cool'. Likewise, the Welcome to the Jungle-trailer also did a lot of good for GTA San Andreas. This trailer is, again, top. Great editing.

If you want to see how not to do things, watch the GoW Cinematic Trailer! Overblown pathos ftl!
