More PS2 Resi Evil 4 extras
New mission and gun confirmed.
PlayStation 2 owners buying Resident Evil 4 later this year will have even more goodies than originally thought, according to Famitsu.
Not content with potentially implementing a proper 16:9 widescreen mode for the game, Capcom has added a new scenario, where Ada Wong has to take on a batch of enemies in a new side mission, using the same weapons main character, Leon Kennedy, utilises. Screenshots in Famitsu show her in scenes with another prominent member of the cast, Luis Sera.
Also confirmed is the previously mooted P.R.L.412 gun (Parasite Removal Laser), which fires bolts of electricity, running off a chargeable battery.
We'll get to examine all these increasing number of extras when PS2 Resident Evil 4 hits Europe, on November 4th.

Well I hope this battery is more reliable than the PSPs.

Besides with all those low res textures and models, hardly suprising they had space left on disk is it? :-D

It will be more like the DS - means you can dual wield, but it is awkward since you need to operate the second gun with a stylus.

When the PS2 had so much trouble with polygones, how comes the corpses stay on the ground and do not dissolve in a puddle of acid? (reported by ign in GC hands on article)

I noticed that, too! I wish they'd done that in the Cube version. Dissolving bodies is sooooooo 90s.

Itīs the only system that could do justice to this great game, with proper graphical display allied to a decent widescreen/progressive mode...
WWWHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
I am begining to curse the day I bought RE4 for the Cube.
The lack of a decent widescreen mode was the worst, and now Capcom keeps coming out with a bunch of extras for the inferior PS2...
I think Capcom betrayed Nintendo users really hard, and the GC owners who bought RE4 surely don't deserve this...

Of course not!
If you cant be bothered to buy a cube and have a PS2 then fair enough get this.
GC owners dont even need to speak. This version needs tits and tats to make up for being not as good as the GC or as pioneering.
Its a bit like defending your ferrari if a ford escort owner pulls up and says he has "Go Faster" stripes.
Your only making yourself look stupid if you debate with him
RES4 on GC ROCKS and is the best looking game, currently out there available to buy until next gen or something else better comes along.
PS2 owners, OK buy it..... so what. hope u enjoy it.
We out...........

i think capcom kinda realised in its financial way thats its not a good thing to
leave PS2 out of the way... now capcom just tries to come slowly back to Sony
without seeming to harsh on betraying Nintendo.
As for whether PS2 can visually handle it well does it really matter? as long as it plays well enough...so why nintendo fans that stand up for gameplay and innovation try to dish this version as gamers they should hope to see a nice port that standing to jump to the chance of bash a console that since its 2 years older is supposed to be inferior eventhough the little sony box holds on better than most expected
call me fanboy if you like but its been too long i ve heard any nintendo fan objective enough so do the rest a favour and let peeps enjoy a game even if its not that good for your GC standards.
and i ll agree with what as one said before perhaps the most decent and deserving version would be possible on Xbox but unfortunatelly it aint gonna happen...

DarkPhoenix I dont know how you can say that....
I had sold my cube earlier and bought another just to buy this game.. I think this has to be my favourite game of last year (i got an xbox and pc as well) - just absolutely amazing in everyway..why does some small addons and a 'proper' widescreen mode make that much difference?
roll on res evil 5 on 360...

Yes, it is hard for me also to come to this harsh conclusion, but thatīs the way I feel about RE4 coming to PS2 with extras and the widescreen fix.
It's betrayal, almost the same as Konami with the "MGS3 Subsistence" crap...
Indeed, I too bought my Gamecube mainly for RE4, wich I loved, and since then I played more on the CG than on any other system, since I own them all.

Edit -Oh and for the record, anyone picked up PSM2 this month ? (I know shit mag, but it had a Resi 4 feature), remember EG mentioned something a bit back about the Rags getting previews of the PS2 version first ? Well good article in there, comparison shots, details about the enhanced Ada side quest etc. Must be said the PS2 version is looking very, very good in comparison to the Cube version, I reckon it'll silence a lot of the fanboys with their "low rez textures LOL !' pish.

Just read a few posts above: apparently it doesn't. Panic strucken these die hard fanboys insist on their systems superiority and keep spreading the rumors that the PS2-version looks like PS1 in comparison.
A little less Detail on characters and lower quality particle effects while keeping about the same framerate and offering a true widescreen mode. If you ask me, that is nothing short of amazing for a conversion. Adding a few nice extras, this brings down the number of titles i would like to own a cube for to 2 (RE remake and Zero).
I still wonder what the ign peep was talking about then with the non-dissolving bodies, the director of the conversion also mentioned no other changes in the PS2 version.
