Ignition to publish Metal Slug 3, Advance in Europe

Hopefully they'll do better over here than Metal Slug X.

In a brief but tantalising announcement this morning, Pool Paradise publisher Ignition Entertainment has announced a deal with SNK Playmore to release Metal Slug 3 for PS2 and Xbox and Metal Slug Advance on the GBA in Europe this October.

Ignition also confirmed that Metal Slug 3 on the Xbox will retain its Live support - although it's worth pointing out, for those who missed the fairly warmly received American version, that online leaderboards are the extent of that. Two players are accommodated on the same system, but not online.

"Metal Slug games have garnered a massive following amongst arcade lovers and importers alike. The home versions include all the enjoyment and fast paced action of the arcade original - plus some great additional features," said Ignition product manager Peter Rollinson of the PS2 and Xbox 2D shooters.

"And with the simultaneous release of Metal Slug Advance - which we strongly believe will be one of the greatest games to grace the Nintendo handheld - this is great news for games players. We're all massive fans of the Metal Slug games at Ignition and are excited to have secured these titles. The Metal Slug series has remained the hardcore gamers' best-kept secret. We are looking forward to sharing it with the masses."
