New F.E.A.R. trailer
More spooky FPS detail.
A new trailer for F.E.A.R., Vivendi's spanky-looking first-person shooter for PC, is now available on Eurofiles. You can also find some screenshots here.
F.E.A.R. - which stands for First Encounter Assault Recon, in case you didn't know - puts you in the role of an elite military operative on a top-secret mission to eliminate a mysterious enemy.
And it's not going to be easy, since your targets will form tactical teams and use co-ordinated attacks to take you out, flanking you on all sides and launching ambushes from the shadows.
Sounds like a healthy arsenal of weapons is needed, then - and that's exactly what you'll get. A wide range of state-of-the-art weaponry is promised, including a corkscrew missile launcher, rapid-fire battle cannon and sub-nuclear blaster - for when you absolutely, positively have to turn every last enemy in the room into a smouldering pile of ash. Nice.
The game is being developed by Monolith using original technology, and uses the Havok 2 Game Dynamics system and the latest DirectX 9 rendering tech too - so expect realistic lighting effects, superb physics and some of the goriest blood-and-guts graphics you ever did see.
F.E.A.R. is due out this autumn.

From the sound of things it's very unlikely that the current generation consoles could cope with it. Next gen maybe.

'wtf does that mean? 2004 was Year of the Torrent or something?'
Heh, I was going to say the same thing. Since when did torrents magically become older tech than direct downloads?
Or perhaps rdexter is talking about some new fangled technology we don't know about yet!
Personally I prefer torrents to a slow, or even worse subscription based site. It's not like the torrents are agonisingly slow anyway, unless you have a 10mb connection and are the kind of person that wants everything 'right this second dammit!'.

Precisely, and Torrent is even the more modern iteration of p2p - I've all but dumped Kazaa...
