Perfect Dark DLC, demo soon

New maps, new bots.

Having made good on its promises of PGR3 and Kameo downloadable content, Microsoft's preparing to release a demo, some new multiplayer maps and some new bot personalities for Perfect Dark Zero.

There's no word on when - other than soon - but we're told the demo will consist of the Outpost campaign level, playable alone, in split-screen or using Live co-op, as well as new multiplayer map Plaza.

People who already own the game, meanwhile, can look forward to four new multiplayer maps - for an undisclosed amount of Microsoft points - and several free auto-updates, one of which will add eight new bot personalities.

According to MS, those will be judge bot, who goes after the player with the most kills; venge bot who goes after whoever killed him; DarkOps bot, who is apparently the 'baddest'; and bully bot who goes after Kristan-oops-I-mean the player with the least kills.

We'll let you know when those pitch up.

Too late, already traded it in.

What's up with all these demos? Aren't they supposed to come out right around the release of a game? I guess we can blame Half-Life 2 for anti-midlife crisis demo strategy.

Maybe they are hoping to stir up some more interest in the game, further into in life span than just the first 4 weeks of shelf life.

Or they where two busy to trying to get in out for release they didn't have time to make a demo.

me thinks the launch titles might be budget titles soon, hence the influx of demos which should have been available from the off.

Or because they think their game is crap.

People are buying Xbox 360s all the time (MS would hope!) and it makes sense to get as many demos out for as many games as possible... even if most of us played them all last December.

    Is PD0 a good game?

I do not have it as yet but i am a FPS fan and enjoy the who online DM thing...

@S.J.Rogers : From what I have gathered from various reviews, the game is good, just not GOOD ENOUGH. The visuals are certainly not next gen, and six months on nobody talks about that game. I think you'd be safer with CoD2, GRAW, or even Far Cry Instincts Predator.

Thanks Talha, i have all of those plus BF2 MC. Just like the idea of adding Bots to the online DM game.

Sounds like the old style Quake 3 mods..!

Still have Full Auto i could trade for it.

Spot on, in5ane - I've just bought mine a week ago so I'm lapping up any demo I can lay my hands on.

Besides, "new" is a relative concept - this demo will be old news to many of you but still very new to me. Bring it on - good OR bad !

I loved the MP PD0 game, it is awesome. That Zombie game alone is worth the admition fee
  • kangarootoo #12 6 years ago

The controls are a touch twitchy.

The co-op game is fun though and I've heard generally that the MP game is really the reason to buy this should you do so.

The sniper level for example, works a lot better in co-op when you are protecting someone with a degree of common sense (unlike the computer controlled version in SP mode).

    >"I do not have it as yet but i am a FPS fan and enjoy the who online DM thing..."

If you engoy multiplayer, then yest.
Don't listen to the moaners (who consist of old time PC gamers along with disgruntled fans who overhyped the game to begin with).

Sure the single player is average (with an aweful storyline to boot), but the multiplayer is where it's at. It just needs more levels.

Thanks Bodybuilder, i belive i will pick it up this weekend...

I'm well pleased a demo's coming out! Just picked up my 360 last Sunday and although I got 4 cracking games with it (GRAW,TL:Legends,PZ3 and Oblivion) I need an online Deathmatch type game soon and can't choose between this and Quake4...

The reviews about both games on the 'net are very confusing...some love them, some hate them, it really is 50/50.....can anyone here recommend which one?

Played the Q4 demo and the multiplayer was great fun, pure Deathmatch madness, which is what I'm after...but is PDZ busier/better?

Completly skint( not suprised!!) so it's a pretty Big decision......

    ta for any input..

I still say PDZ. The combination of different weapons and thier different firing modes adds so much.

And if you've got live, then definately PDZ as darkops is where it's at.
  • Furbs #17 6 years ago

    ^^^ What he says

PDZ in multiplayer (online or offline) feels like Goldeneye multiplayer. Q4 is fun, and as an owner of both I'd say was better in Single Player, but the sheer variety of weaponary in MP on PDZ makes it better. It just needs a few more maps thats all.

@The Bodybuilder: First of all, the FANS did not overhype the game - nothing could be further from the truth. You know perfectly well who did.

Second, try posting sometimes without being so overtly mean and patronizing to your fellow posters. We seem to be all saying that SP is average and MP is where it's at, just like you. Which makes your tone doubly puzzling.
