Wizard's Tower for Oblivion
Plus, Oldblivion for manky PCs.
Oblivion fans who've exhausted the Orrery quest and have had enough fun with their shiny horses can now get their hands on The Wizard's Tower quest.
The Wizard's Tower costs 150 Microsoft points on Xbox Live Marketplace, which is around the same as it is in old money for PC owners - $1.89.
The tower's home to a powerful mage who wants you to look after it. In the tower you have an altar for summoning things and creating spells and enchanted items, a garden full of potion ingredients, teleporters to every mage's guild, and a bed to sleep in.
PC fans can download it from Obliviondownloads.com, while Xbox 360 owners can find it through the relevant Marketplace menus.
Meanwhile, PC gamers without DirectX 9 compatible graphics cards finally have some way to play Oblivion - a project called Oldblivion will patch various areas of the game to support a number of older graphics cards.
More details and download links can be had through the Oldblivion website.

Yes, but if some current gen high end pc's have problems, htf are the previous gen pc gonna run it? Or did they just ditch some effects & made it less detailed?

Glad I got the 360 version, I've still had a few crashes but nothing too major.

My Geforce 6600GT has surprisingly few crashes. There are definetly things that need to get patched.
But hey, if they find it more important to make more stuff to sell...

Unfortunately a look on the official forums shows that this has been a problem with every single official plug-in that's been released.
And with Bethesda not seemingly caring about the problem(well, they've not exactly done much to fix the problem) it seems like the only way to get the plug in (that actually works!) is by... less legal means.
I'd like (and many other people i don't doubt) an employee of bethesda to explain to us why it is that the plug-ins aren't working. If it's the amount of people trying to activate them, then why not put them on a better server / more servers (or something - i'm not the most technical of people!) to reduce the capacity of people trying to do it all at the same time?
Shame on you Bethesda!

What do you expect for your money nowadays? Service!?

which doesn't work (at least not for me).
the other solution is to shut down and boot up in safe mode to runthe exe, although that means not being able to use the interweb to activate it and having to phone them up with a big old phone bill to pay after!
I am not amused. I'll have to find another way to get the mod!

... or something.
In any case, people talking here about pirating the game are doing so to get their PURCHASED game to work. That's a noble cause, and what's more, logical.

In fairness the people involved in making these mini-mods would all be artists and designers; maybe a single programmer doing a half a day's work. The people working on a patch would be nearly exclusively programmers, so these extra mods shouldn't effect the patch development at all. If they are then there's something seriously wrong with management over in Bethsoft
Meanwhile people with nVidia cards might want to try the 84.37 .v2 drivers over on Tweaks R Us; leagues better than the ones offered on nVidia.com; giving some folks an extra 15 fps in Oblivion.
