Star Trek Legacy confirmed
There's a handheld title, too.
Just last week we brought you the news that a new Star Trek game is in development for the Xbox 360 and PC - and now it's been officially confirmed by Bethesda Softworks.
Star Trek: Legacy sees you playing as an Admiral in charge of a load of warships, fighting it out over both small and large scale battles. The storyline covers time periods from the original series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise, and you can expect real time combat in "dynamic three-dimensional battlefields." The game's multiplayer mode will let you fight small battles or go for all-out war, and you'll be able to track player stats and rankings.
And that's not all Bethesda's planning. Also in development is Star Trek: Tactical Assault for PSP and Nintendo DS, which also features real-time combat but concentrates on the era of the original Star Trek series.
There are two campaign modes - Federation and Klingon - and both feature branching missions with multiple paths and a variety of outcomes. Head-to-head wireless multiplayer combat is promised, too.
Star Trek: Legacy is being developed by Mad Doc Software, and Quicksilver Software - the studio which brought us Starfleet Command - is developing Star Trek: Tactical Assault. Both games are due out in September.
