Portrait of Ruin delayed

Needs more time for Wi-Fi.

Konami has delayed the release of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for Nintendo DS until February 2007 in order to implement some extra features.

A spokesperson for Konami Europe said that the development team will use the time to add online spell-trading, as well as a shop system for selling items over the Internet, along with a two-player Wi-Fi co-op mode for playing with a friend against the game's bosses.

That's a bit of a shame then, as Portrait of Ruin had been one of the DS' most exciting potential releases of 2006, but we're assured by Konami that the game will be worth the wait. Based on our experiences with it at E3 and the Leipzig Games Convention this summer, and how good the last Castlevania DS game - Dawn of Sorrow - was, we reckon they're probably right.

if it makes the game better I'll wait. I'm hoping the games a bit longer than dawn of sorrow.

God dammit! It seems like all the games for Nintendo consoles I'm looking forward to have been delayed til next year.

All we need now is a Yoshi's Island 2 delay and Nintendo will really only have Zelda for GC and Wii to entice people this Xmas.

"Only Wii?" Is your day 96 hours long, or what?

Just buy Dawn Of Sorrrow, tipex the subtitle and write "Portrait of Ruin" instead. Bam! New Castlevania game way before the release date.

Noooooo! I just finished Aria of Sorrow (having already finished DoS, SotN and HoD) and now I have no Metroidvania left to feed my INSATIABLE LUST FOR VAMPIRE BLOOD!

Glad they're not rushing it out before it's finished, though.

I'm all for delaying games to improve them, but really, online spell trading? All 3 people who give a crap about that feature, please raise your hands!

There is still one more to play, "White Circle of the Moon" (or just "Castlevania" in Europe), came out around the release of the GBA, its bloody fantastic, miles better than HoD. That should keep you going for a while.

circle of the moon kept my GBA warm for a long time

it looks a bit dated now compared to some of the newer castlevanias, but it plays well ands its hard as hell (duo dragon zombies for example)

is the US version delayed too? was going to import it anyway (resist sony joke)
