Virtua Tennis served on PC, PSP

In addition to PS3/360.

With the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Virtua Tennis 3 on display at the Games Convention this week, SEGA's announced that the game will also be appearing on PC and PSP next spring when the game debuts

SEGA's also outlined the player line-ups, promised five-set matches, and confirmed that all four versions will include World Tour Mode (with its 10 new mini-games and two classic ones) and Court Games - quirky multiplayer variations on the mini-games.

As for who's in it, on the female side you've got Amelie Mauresmo, Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, Martina Hingis, Nicole Vaidisova, Lindsay Davenport and Daniela Hantuchova.

Then for the blokes, there's Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Tim Henman, Lleyton Hewitt, James Blake, Mario Ancic, Gael Monfils, Taylor Dent, David Nalbandian, Sebastian Grosjean, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Tommy Haas.

Look for all four versions of VT3 in the spring.

I had a few games of VT3 the other day, seemed very nice especially the animation in terms of both fluidity and individuality for the players. Also, characters with powerful serves seem to get more benefit from hitting max serves now, so possibly it won't be just the volley players that are worth playing as this time around.

Yay! My PC will FINALLY get a decent Tennis game. Should be a blast to play with two Dual Shocks connected to the USB.

Unless of course I get a PS3 or 360 by then.

    Nice !

Will get this on 360... but can't see the point of getting the PSP version when the World Tour was so darn good.

ilmaestro: from my friend's experiences in the arcade version, ball movement is so fast now that volleying is wrth a lot less. The best players I've seen play as the likes of Hewitt and Blake, big guys who really hit the ball hard, and it often turns into a baeline war of attrition.

Interesting that Sumo can do what AM2 can't - that is, convert a Lindbergh arcade game to a machine that doesn't have an nVidia graphics chip!

"AM2 can only convert to a system with an nVidia graphics chip." If you're on about VF5 exclusive to PS3 I think the reality is (a) Sega for once used their brains when deciding which system to exclusively make the game for and whored VF to the highest bidder-who was Sony + (b) VF has a massive fan in Japan, not the rest of the world. It would therefore be commercial suicide developing for flopped in Japan Xbox360, particularily when you consider what a good job Microsoft did of promoting quality exclusive games like Jet Set Radio Future, Shemue 2 and Panzer Dragoon Orta on the standard X-box. I can really see why Sega would want to give Microsoft another plum franchise to ruin whilst Microsoft promote proper games like Dead or poor mans VF Alive, derivative 1st person shooter 2million and overated US developed game that gets good marks in reviews cause Microsoft slipped the game mags some envelopes with £50 notes in.

But besides that Virtua Tennis looks nice.

uiruki: I only played as Roddick (I really meant to try some other players, but I forgot to as smashing the serves down was so much fun!) so I only really noticed the difference in serves, but it would make total sense if it applied to all the powerful hitters in the game too. I genuinely can't wait, it seems like it will be just that bit better of a tennis game than the first two, which got a lot of their quality from being great arcade games.

Yepe Virtua Tennis on pc again.

ilmaestro: I think that in general serving has been improved. You can make some really nasty serves now, especially against the slower players. A "fast runner" like Nadal is much better at covering the court than a slow, lumbering Nalbandian.

At the end of the day though, it's a million billion times better than Top Spin 2, with its interesting take on gravity.

Besides having Tournament Mode and Exhibition Mode from the arcade version, the home versions include a World Tour Mode and Court Games mode. These game modes replace the Challenge Mode that was present in the arcade version. -County Line Nissan
