DS gets Lost in Blue 2
Carpentry and wickerwork - yes!
The sequel to Konami's DS adventure game Lost in Blue is due to wash ashore early next year.
In Lost in Blue 2, players take on the role of a male and female castaway, tasked with working together to overcome and survive the elements, while striving to search for a way off the island.
The DS touch screen will be put to use as the pair develop carpentry skills, wickerwork, cook food and go skin diving with the help of the trusty stylus.
For further variety, the male character is more physically adept at climbing, fighting and recovering his energy levels, while the female can hold her breath longer, is a dab hand with the bow and arrow and makes a better meal. Which sounds like marriage material to us, although her child-bearing hips are not mentioned.
Not only will players have to battle wild animals to survive but they'll also be exposed to the elements, such as hurricanes and earthquakes. Negotiating the environment is said to be key, with catching and cooking food, avoiding dehydration and making weapons from whatever comes to hand all key to surviving the island.

Sounds like Dungeon Master on the Amiga A500 (which may mean nothing to you if you are less than 25 yrs old).

I was always dying of hunger in that bloody game. Some things change, some stay the same

Lol, is that really in there or did you make that up (I suspect the latter, in which case, nice one).

I got annoyed with the first one. They're always bloody hungry, and always bloody thirsty. You never have a chance to just enjoy the game and look around for a bit.
Sounds like you tried too much at once. Take your time, there's no pressure from the game. After a couple of hours, things will become easier. I absolutely loved it, including the beginning - it had something about classical Western RPGs where every rat will kill you about it.

Or maybe the game makers will come to their senses.

- female was absolutely helpless. Oh sure, lost her glasses, but can't even step out to refill water? Or walk around and try to pick some of the carrots that were mysteriously just there. Not to mention going out and picking some sticks to feed the fire...
- killed the first deer, now thought that yay! food for at least a week. Those bloody hungry ones ate it with one meal! Same applies for everything... the consumption rate for food was just way too high.
But i kinda enjoyed the game, though never finished it. Hope they make sequel better...

You played a VERY different game from me then
I saw the "game over" screen SO many times, even within the first few minutes of play. That's never a good start.!
Sure, it's all quite charming, and there are some great ideas in there, but as a game it ain't much fun IMO. There's no pressure of time? Well, there's the constant pressure of having to take care of the characters' needs, having to feed those greedy fuckers every five seconds... plus there's the rubbish fire-starting minigames etc... I barely had a chance to look around the island and get my bearings, what with all the goddamn eating and drinking and fires.
One of those games where the execution doesn't live up to the concept. Like say... SOS: The Final Escape (Zettai Zetsumei Toshi). Plus it reminded me too much of my least favourite bit of Metal Gear Solid 3 - dragging the girl through the forest, with her getting hungry literally every 10 seconds. Fucking awful.

Seriously, just take your time. Collect a few coconuts, drink water, explore only so little of the area that you don't risk dying. Don't go to bed hungry. After 2 hours at worst, you'll be solidly in the double-digits with all stats. Fishing is the way forward.
